I'm certainly not criticizing any providers that do it, but I wouldn't if I was a provider. PayPal is notorious for freezing money in accounts if they even suspect anything not above board is going on. From an article I recently saw on the subject:
Question: What are the triggers that lead to account reviews? Are new PayPal accounts more susceptible than older ones?
There are many potential triggers. Computer algorithms can flag accounts based on things like location, dollar amounts, and frequency of transactions. PayPal employees can also trigger reviews. For example, a customer service employee may trigger a review after you contact them or if they need to verify information. Similarly, a risk department employee may trigger a review if your account has chargebacks, explosive growth, trigger words, or if they receive a report from another business (such as InComm, which produces the MyCash cards).
Clearly there is a lot of data mining going on, designed to ferret out those activities they don't approve of.

I could see if an escort was charging the entirety of her business through a credit card... that would draw red flags. But I think for most of us, the credit card transactions are very occasional. It's just a convenient alternative when the need arises.
If you have a legitimate business to disguise the charges, even better.

Not unless you upgrade to a business account and get the PayPal debit card. Also, even IF you link it to your bank account, it's not like PayPal calls the IRS and tells them "Vannah made $XXX this month...just FYI guys".
Let's say you go to the bank and deposit 10% of what you make so it doesn't look suspicious. Why not do the same with PayPal? Just withdraw 10% into your bank account...

Also if you send as a gift to friends and family the client can't dispute the charge and they pay the fees

Yeah, I guess I was thinking of it as a primary form of payment and not just an occasional convenience thing. That's a good point.
I don't think I'd ever use it as a client though. It is tied to multiple accounts with my name on them.

#1 just pay your taxes...then all the worry about money and where it came from goes away..HOWEVER paypal and adult biz are a big NO NO..and only leads to trouble eventually
#2 no matter how it is sent..it leaves a "paper trail" in the electronic form..money changed hands and there is proof of who it came from and where it went to. And if PAYPAL ever gets wind that its for adult business they will lock your account and freeze the money in the account..no questions ask.not to mention ANGRY wives that snoop which leads to point 3..
#3 in order to use the money sent unless you use paypal for online purchases, you have to deposit the money into your bank account to spend it..electronic paper trail #2.. you could eventually down the road in some rare instance have to explain why you continue to receive money if the IRS was to come knocking..if you risk leaving the money in the paypal acct and get caught you risk losing it..
#4. cash is king for a reason-and there are other viable options to take credit card payments that don't have the chance of drawing trouble from the company like paypal..you still would be smart just to file your damn taxes tho
I for one would say I clean houses for a living..I would do it legit..set up my SP, etc etc.. then when a guy wants to pay me..it would be he is paying my house cleaning business.. then i deduct my mileage, my car, and all related business expenses including HOTELS(you have to meet rental property owners to discuss cleaning their units) to cut into my profit as much as reasonably believable and then I pay my damn taxes on my income at the end of the year. that way when i wanna buy a car, a house, a rental property, invest etc I don't have to worry about explaining away my money..and I have proof of income. if you have kids..then you throw in EIC and you will most likely get a damn return from federal..doing the above allows me to use PAYPAL card reader, SQUARE card reader and various other methods to take credit cards without drawing attention from the company and just requires a little effort and somewhat protects the gent paying
if we are talking 2k in the grand scheme of things its not an issue..I guess i just think on bigger scales..
personally If lets say I brought in just 60k last year..and 20k of that was via paypal payments..you are gonna get 1099 from them.. and even still if my lifestyle is lived in such a way that it draws attention i would want to be able to explain away how I provide for my family and myself..even if you just make 40k a year escorting..why not earn it as legit as possible so it benefits YOU in the long run
with all the options out there..I would steer clear of PAYPAL and in money sent ANY way for adult business..it will catch up to you eventually.
