For a basic model, the dildo analogy is probably a fair comparison. But more advanced models can be made to look, feel, sound, and act like a real person. Some are even modeled after celebrities or porn stars. Think a Real Sex doll complete with emotional simulation and conversational ability. There are people petitioning governments around the world for the right to marry their robots. Hell, Saudi Arabia even granted one full citizenship! I'm not aware of anything similar for sex toys.
