As will I. Love the elevation changes worked into the design, it reminds me of Road America on a smaller scale.

Oh yeah this goldplated track will be wedged in between the county prison, right next to the mobile home park, beside the cow pasture where I used to collect rattlesnakes.
That area is the last place any intelligent person would put an attraction of any kind.
This whole thing is another brainchild of Red McCombs, the now aged used car hustler who tried unsuccessfully to have other cities pay for his sports arenas, etc., and now found a bunch of dopes here in Austin who would foot the bill. He never went to UT either, where the business school bears his name. He never went to any college LOL!

As a long-time F1 fan I am hoping the Austin promoters can pull this off. I went to the one and only 1985 Dallas Grand Prix and vividly remember wondering what was the matter with my car air conditioner since it was on max all the way there and never really got cool. It was a 105 degree day in Dallas. The tire engineers recorded the highest track temperature they had ever taken anywhere. Let's hope the US GP is scheduled before the Canadian race and no later than June.
One of the most amazing and discouraging things about following this story is the chorus of angry naysayers that springs up in every on-line venue. It appears that the entire country lost it's collective mind in the Fall of 2008 and isn't going to recover anytime soon. Someone is Wildly Indignant about Nearly Everything. I think a lot of Americans are waking up angry these days and going to bed that way too. In between they look for something to focus their anger on, to explain it to themselves.

It's a sport that creates jobs, attracts money to Austin, and brings in lots of hot looking women. I'm not seeing any downside and hope they pull it off. As far as I know, it's still legal to try and make your business as profitable as possible and we citizens still have the freedom to invest our dollars where we want. When you think about, that's also at the root of this hobby too.

Slot: I WISH we citizens had the choice of where our dollars go. The taxes I pay for the privilege of living in my house, bought in 1971, each year, are 1/3 of the total I paid for the house. So every 3 years, I've had to pay for it all over again.
Somehow, in the pit of my stomach, I know I'm gonna be paying for some of this race track adventure. I'm not against the sport, I just don't care for it.. Kinda like the kids going to school, I have none, never did, but pay a fortune for others to use the facilities.
I WISH we got to choose where our $$$$ goes.

You do have a choice when the governor and their chronies don't hit up their slush fund for the financing (though that was a small part of the total in this venture). Red McComb failed to have the public finance his previous stadium projects because the voters did speak up and shot him down. I also do wish we had a greater say of where our tax money went though.

That would be so awesome. The only Grand Prix I attended was in Monte Carlo in 2005. It was an awesome experience albeit very expensive. but it's one of the most expensive GPs if not the most expensive. But it was a lot of fun and I could go see my family two hours est of there.

Well TAE I hate to break the news to you but Red McCombs did attend UT as well as Southwestern University in Georgetown. While he never graduated from any of these two schools he did attend them. And I have a pretty good idea that the $50 million that he donated to the business school is probably the reason why it is named after him. Maybe a little research on your part next time might do wonders.

Can someone give me some map coordinates....roads/cross roads - that will help me understand where this is going to be built?
The back straight ought to be very exciting in an F1 car with the elevation peak just about halfway through it. Imagine going over 200mph and then having the road drop away underneath you! Kinda like a reverse Eau Rouge from The Ring!

You don't need a college degree if you've got "street smarts" and with that he's made zillions!!!
