Default Gibson Guitars raided by FBI.

Another American company may go overseas unnecessarily. The CEO for Gibson guitars is a registered Republican. All guitar companies use rosewood fret boards. Why is this administration picking on Gibson??? This could mean more US job losses over a political agenda. When this left/right shit is affecting my favorite guitar maker they have crossed the line for the last time.

Now that they have crossed the line for the last time, as you so delicately put it, what are you going to do? Strum their liberal asses? Pick 'em and grin 'em?

YOW!

That's a stretch. Even for you.

Bruce Mitchell, the chief legal counsel for Gibson, told Fox News. ”We have – probably 40 people in our factory here just at USA who are doing the inlays into the fingerboard … that are putting the fret on. If all that was to be done over in India, then … those jobs would be lost.”

OMFG 40 people...this is such huge news that the GOP invited the Gibson CEO to Obama's speech on thursday. They flirted with the law back in 2009 too and will get their day in court. Don't like the laws? change them, dont blame enforcing them against whoevers in office.

Of course, maybe half of the guitar strings on the market are made outside the US, including Fender's strings, which are made in Mexico.

Picks? Straps?

What's your point?

Goddamned liberals!

40 jobs is 40 jobs. There are other companies that import the same material and they are not being raided. The point is they are not enforcing them on every one.

Obviously Gibson does not understand what it takes to do business under this administration. Here is how you do it:

According to White House visitor logs, between March 12, 2009, and April 14, 2011, Solyndra officials and investors made no fewer than 20 trips to the West Wing. In the week before the administration awarded Solyndra with the first-ever alternative energy loan guarantee on March 20, four separate visits were logged.

George Kaiser, who has in the past been labeled a major Solyndra investor as well as a Obama donor, made three visits to the White House on March 12, 2009, and one on March 13.

Kaiser personally donated $53,500 to Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008.

Solyndra reps made 20 trips to WH before $500M award...

$535 Million of taxpayer money down the drain in only two years. Tonight it is reported that Obama will seek another $400 Billion in "stimulus" funds to spend like this.

Now the Feds (FBI) are raiding them. That's a pretty quick and drastic free fall for a company that Obama held up as the future of green technology.

With 749 employees it comes out to roughly $713,000 per job saved for two years.

tragically this reckless expenditure represents the current administration's mindset regarding national energy policy and employment policy.

what the Obama administration called part of an aggressive effort to put more Americans to work and end U.S. dependence on foreign oil.

I am surprised someone hasn't posted yet saying "it's only half a billion dollars".

You're absolutely right. But if you think the policies in Washington don't have an effect on the jobs market then you simply haven't been paying attention.
So maybe it's you that needs to wake up and realize that the policies, regulations, tax laws etc that Washington creates, bickers over, changes etc all have a direct impact on the jobs market.

Where was the angst when Gibson was raided in 2009? They got on the Fed's radar and kept doing what they were doing. To fly the CEO to washington on the GOP dime was nothing but showboat political nonsense.

There are other stations besides Fox News ya know.
