The death of Backpage
I've been weighing out alot of the pros and cons surfacing around this subject. Honestly I think that if Backpage shut down tomorrow that it would be beneficial to us a companions as well as TRUE hobbyists across the country. This monster called Backpage, in my opinion, has helped put a dent in the escorting business as we know it. I say this because BP allows : anyone to post on their site without requiring any type of verification like EROS and others, random providers can post just about any type of content that they desire, advertisers are allowed to post whatever rates they feel like posting, the community (mainly other advertisers) can flag anyone for non terms of use violations and BP will remove content without censoring it at all, and the list goes on.
Did I mention human trafficking of minors was an issue? I can sit here all day and decipher Backpage but basically these were some of the grievances that I had with the site. Do you think that it would be beneficial or a disadvantage for all of us, people that had something to loss, if Backpage closed their escort section today?

BP : you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
those're about the same issues i've always found while lurking there. never seen anything that resembled human trafficking of minors though,...

Actually, BP serves its purpose.
Keep the low quality in one place. If guys are looking for a cheap bang for the buck, it's there.
For the others who value quality, they'll just stay away.
My fear is that the BP crowd will start to come to other boards like Eccie.

You have to understand is that BP is NOT a escort site, it's a classified site that has a adult section with a subsection for escorts, that's all it is, unlike Eros which is only a escort site, BP doesn't have any reason to need to verifiy the contents of a ad, also BP is more of a express lane, where if you don't want to have to plan in advance for a appointment, so it serves a purpose, if there wasn't a back page those same people would be here, really they are already here, a lot of ladies use multiple resources from Eros to BP to everything in between. just take a look at how many showcases there are and how many ladies actually post here on the regular,
Backpage is most likely making a lot more money than Eros since they have much higher volume, yes their ad rate is much lower, but they cover a lot more cities and countries, you can post as much as you want as long as you pay for it, and it has a constantly changing menu of escort, no it's not gourmet, but McDonald make more in a day that your most upscale establishment makes in a year. Also if you're new, Eros may not be in your ad pricing range.
BP does have the element of danger, but you have to weight the risk for yourself and what is acceptable
BTW what is a True Hobbyist by definition, vs. a not true hobbyist

A lot of providers don't prefer to see "true hobbyist" and the bullshit that it in itself can bring. Some ladies prefer to see "regular guys" who are not caught up in a conquer quest of sorts. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it should be taken off the shelf. All sites serve their purpose. If we were all the same, did the same thing, acted the same way the world just wouldn't work. Do your's and don't sweat what other's are doing. Variety is the spice if life.

BackPage is a premiere advertising site for some sections of the country. I know a filthy Pimp who abducted a girl at gunpoint and posted her on BP until I complained to BP about the posting, and they took it down. I had to threaten legal action because there were police reports on the abduction. The filthy pimp has since been arrested in OKC on charges of running a national sex trafficking ring, where they abduct girls and force them into prostitution. Why couldn't he have met a trigger happy cop?

Backpage is an advertising medium. I've met some great men off of backpage and in some parts of the country, it's really the only place that you can advertise.
I'm not sure why some people believe it to be so evil. I used to be a backpage snob and would never advertise there until about four years ago. I used to think that I was too good for that venue.
I was VERY wrong. Since starting to advertise on backpage, I've met some of my best client base from there.
This topic has been bantered about a lot and I'll just wait for others to chime in, but I highly disagree with the general premise of the topic. I wouldn't like to see backpage go.
Of course, when and if it does, another venue will take its place.

So if you knew this girl was abducted and her pimp posted it on BP, Why didn't you call the police, they could of used the ad to find the girl, instead you chose to call BP to complain!!!
Sorry but for me this isn't passing the smell test.

I must say that I completely and whole-heartedly agree with Elisabeth. You know there is good and bad on backpage just as there is also good and bad here. You just have to be a good judge of character and able to weed out who you don't want to deal with just like any part of life. Generally I am able to tell if I do not want to see a client based on the first 10 seconds of a phone conversation.
Most men aren't stupid. They know who is phony and who is real... It's all in how you portray yourself because no matter where you post... class, personal dignity and self respect will always shine through if you possess it and thus attract those with likewise qualities as yourself.
Backpage has been the bread and butter that sustained me through some hard, dry spells.
No. I do not wish for BP to go. But if it does, Just like Elisabeth said a similar venue will immediately fill its shoes.
And btw Mr Goodbar... I would dare not say that Ms Whispers or myself are in any way shape or form "low class" nor are we "cheap bangs for the buck." In fact, Ms Whispers so earned the respect of this community that she was asked to be a moderator here on Eccie and currently does an outstanding good job at it.
IJS it's not fair to judge, there are more good girls than bad on bp. Of course, to each his own.

To quote Bill Parcells, "It is what it is". BP serves a purpose. It is a good starting point to find providers. 95 times out of 100, I would not consider seeing a BP girl if that was the only source of info I have on her. However, if I can dig up any other info on her, then I see it as a possible green light. Guys just have to do their research. BTW, I see BP and ad sites like it as the digital version of streetwalkers-- no offense to providers who use BP as just one of many advertizing platforms.

How about the girl escaped prior to the posting of the ad, and the police were made aware of the ad. Sorry I am so stupid that I don't think like you. You just tick me off. Try knowing what you are talking about before you open your mouth. .
