Default Booking a hotel for only a few hours.

Recently I booked a hotel, only to use it for an hour for an outcall. I then immediately checked out of the hotel afterwards. The guy at the front looked at me suspiciously when I checked out so early.

Anyone else been in this situation? Is the only solution to actually sleep there, then check out in the morning to not look suspicious?

Is single day check-in, check-out that uncommon?

Why not just leave? Unless of course you had to put up a cash deposit.

You can book thr room..check in..and just leave with no need to "check out"...they would have no clue whether u sleep there or not..

If no cash deposit..there is no rule u must check out..leave the key card in the room and walk out

Instead of actually checking out, I've always just left the keys in the room, with no "do not disturb" sign on display. No awkward interaction with staff.

Just leave the key card in the room. You can call them in the morning and let them know you have left but I'm not sure you even have to do that most places. Housekeeping will check the room and find it empty in the morning,

Ditto- leave the key in the room and leave when ever your ready.
I dislike getting rooms for just one appt- but sometimes you have to do it.
Usually I stay and post in avail now and on P411 When I have a room already- and just hope for the best.

Depending on the time of day your appointment is you can get a Day rate for use of the room during the day, checkout usually by 5-6 pm. It's a common thing for business meetings, missed flights, a quickly with a "mistress". It's not advertised much cuz hotels want you to buy the overnight rate.

I have always just left the key card in the room and left. As long as you didn't have to have put down a cash deposit they will just charge your CC.

If you have a magnetic key(which most are now) you don't have to leave the key in the room. At your scheduled checkout time the keys are programmed to no longer operate and if you have any additional charges they will post it to your credit card.

The magnetic key cards have your name and credit card information on them. DO NOT leave them.

I don't think I've ever bothered to check out at the front desk. I didn't know anyone did. I always just leave the key in the room.

There ARE day/short stay hotel sites but as others have mentioned if you get a hotel that doesn't have a hotel rate then really you can just leave (and leave the keys in the room) without having to checkout w/ the front desk.
