My friend is an escort in Canada and the men there pay well over $1000 for visits. She said it's legal there and I wonder if that's why men pay so much. Do you think if they made it legal here that the rates would go up?

I know there is some kind of oil boom in Canada but I doubt the average visit is $1k. I would think if they made it legal here in the US rates would go down till most providers left the hobby then rates would even back out to fit the demand. Wow just think of all the tax revenue the goverment would get. Then they might have to cut back so much.

Men pay well over a $1K here too. The demographic she caters to and possibly upscale projection of herself would be a better indicator of pricing differences than if service were legal or illegal.
If anything, I would think that the legalization of the escort business would reduce costs. Greater competition would come into the market place.

I spent 6 mos in Canada on business and the avg session was 200.00. About the same as here.

I live in Canada in one the richest cities (Calgary, AB) and I can say that I have not seen an escsort advertise 1000/hour. The average rate here is 250-300.
350-400 is not as common but it's still there and yes, the guys pay that if you have a good rep.
Victoria, Toronto, and Montreal are around 200-250.
There are very few that charge 1000/hour but they usually have two names and two different personas.
Prostitution is legal here but every thing around it is illegal. Common bawty house, soliciting etc. is illegal.
Now, you can be a licensed escort but you are only allowed to out-calls not incalls. A license is about 3000/year and if you have that they can't do anything no matter what you do BCD. Basically, the city if your biggest pimp. As long as you can present that, you're fine. I'll estimate that only about 15% of them have licenses.
Getting busted for soliciting is about a 250 dollar fine. If you're busted for working as an escort WITHOUT a license it's about 2000 - 5000.
LE is a lot more lenient here. They will do their annual "swipe" and that's it usually.

Does LE do the same type of setup there as they do here to catch a girl who is not Lic? Does the cust have to ask a girl for her Lic berfor he sees her?

Yes, they're pretty much the same set up. You're supposed to put the BL(bylaw) # and License number somewhere in all your ads.
No, the customer doesn't have to ask. If he does, he's probably a cop as I can't see why an client would ask for that. If you present it, they can't do shit as long as it is an outcall.
