Default Biden pardons potentially thousands of ex-service members convicted under now-repealed gay sex ban

https://ground.news/article/biden-pa...sex-ban_b2be8f
  • Thousands of LGBTQI+ service members were discharged due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, with President Biden acknowledging their sacrifices.
  • The pardon pertains to Article 125 of the Military Justice Code, in effect from 1951 to 2013, impacting potentially thousands of veterans.
  • A Defense Department review aims to correct records of veterans who faced discharge due to sexual orientation, impacting benefits and employment opportunities.

Well, it’s about time. The government has no business regulating sexuality. Good on Biden for trying to make good on past mistakes.

I almost wish I still went to church so I could listen to the crazies lose their fucking minds.

That's good. Now the Military has some expendables.

This is desperate pandering to the LGBTQ+ (whatever) slice of socvietyh at the last minute in an election year.

If this was such an important issue for the welfare of the Nation, President Biden could easily have done it in 2020.

Whatever. It was the right thing to do. I could give a fuck what the motivation was. If I do something decent with the intent to impress someone, it doesn't negate that fact that it was decent.

I don't understand the hatred for gay folks. Did a gay person hurt you?

There's no hate, I said it was good.

The use of the word “expendables” doesn’t exactly show respect to those who tried to serve their country. Hatred may not be the right word to use. I would use disrespect instead.

Given what everyone witnessed last night, it’s safe to that any thread about Biden doing something is clearly a misnomer. People are doing things, attributing them to a person who’s barely alive, but by no means is he able to make decisions on anything resembling a complex issue.

I think the use of that word is about as disrespectful as the use of the word “deplorables”.

People die during war but I am pretty sure that no one, LBGTQ or not, would consider themselves as expendable.

No, maybe not but the Government does. The organizing principle of any Society is for War. The Authority of the State over it's People resides in it's War Powers.
