He shot a teenager that was apparently in the process of beating him to death. Trayvon had already broken Zimmerman's nose and was repeatedly slamming his head against a concrete sidewalk when Zimmerman shot him.

What was Zimmerman supposed to; allow himself to be beaten to death?

It would be interesting to hear from one of Martin’s football coaches. They could add another dimension to this debate by revealing how much weight Martin could bench-press (160 lbs; 180 lbs; 200 lbs?????) and/or dead lift, because that is how these young men prepare when they play football. They run, sprint and lift weights; plus, they are trained to hit and tackle.

Yes, a "beating to death" that didn't require an ambulance to the hospital or any medical care at all the night it happened. And, assuming what I've heard is correct, he ended up with a broken nose and a cut on the back of his head. Again, injuries that apparently didn't require medical attention at the scene of the shooting. So far as I know, the only person hauled away from the scene in an ambulance was the black kid.

He should have at least let the kid break a few ribs, maybe grab the gun and wing him before acting, that would be the "progressive" thing to do.
