Default COVID: Your opinions?

I asked both the Colombian and the Brazilian I recently reviewed, what COVID was like in their countries?

Surprisingly, they said their governments' responses were worse than here, with mandated curfews, mass shutdowns, forced quarantines.

So the whole world has been fucked hard.

In years past we would have called any severe upper respiratory illness "influenza" or "cold" and wouldn't have cared if it was a coronavirus, rhinovirus, influenza, etc. causing it. Getting sick was just viewed as a normal part of life. Influenza has always been bad, but it's not new. Only the government reactions are new.

This past year, worldwide collusion between governments has re-labeled the flu as "COVID" to achieve: 1) Power Grab and 2) Money Grab (by the globalist billionaire elites, in conjunction with the CCP).

We used to be able to have our head in the pussy, and ignore whatever bullshit was happening around the world. But now, we all are affected. No blithely ignoring it anymore.

Monday night at closing time, during the severe winds and ice, I shuffled into Stewart's after getting gas to buy a pint of ice cream. I forgot my mask in the car. I pulled my shirt up over my face. I'm the only person in the store other than the two 20-something female clerks. I start banging both of them bareback on the ice cream counter... I mean, I go to the counter to buy a pint, and they tell me because I don't have a mask, they can't ring me out. I ask, even with my shirt pulled up, but that's not good enough. No, the store rules, they can get fined by the Dept. of Health. Sorry, can't serve you. I put the ice cream back and leave.

14 months ago this would have been complete fucking insanity, but now it's encouraged and applauded.

THIS is how the End starts... guys, enjoy the hobby while we still have it. Soon cash will be extinct, and all transactions will be tagged and tracked. When everyone else was distanced this past year, the hobby was the last connection left.

What are my fellow monger's opinions on Covid? How are you handling it?

I did a quick Google search, read these headlines:

forbes.com: The Net Worth Of America's 600-Plus Billionaires Has Increased By More Than $400 Billion During The Pandemic

wsws.org: “Pandemic be damned”: Forbes 400 wealthiest Americans list reveals billionaire bonanza

americansfortaxfairness.org: NET WORTH OF U.S. BILLIONAIRES HAS SOARED BY $1 TRILLION— TO TOTAL OF $4 TRILLION—SINCE PANDEMIC BEGAN

statista.com: U.S. Billionaires Gained $1 Trillion Since The Pandemic Started

theguardian.com: Ten billionaires reap $400bn boost to wealth during pandemic

usatoday.com: During coronavirus pandemic, billionaires added $931B to net worth

Money grab? Mission accomplished!

Dude I am involved with EMS, hang out in my ambulance some time, I’ll buy the ice cream. It’s real and it’s scary what it does to the human body- enough said

set up scheme by the ultra rich....aka 1 percenters...think about it is not effecting them... but long term their best friend...the big corruptions will make out... so their sales will be down for a 1 or 2 years during this... but what are they doing to counter act they are raising prices... so after this virus passes.. sales will climb back to normal and prices will remain high which equals more money for them long term..

Yes, you guys are right, the rich have gotten richer but over a half million dead from COVID is no joke. Avoiding large crowds and not breathing on each other just gives us better odds of staying healthy. Any providers have an outdoor incall location?

I was about done with it and ready to move on back to normal around Xmas but then my uncle died, then my cousin, then my mom. Can’t just give up living, but I don’t take issue with wearing masks and precautions and stuff. The first time you go through the contact trace/stay at home stuff that’s a real butt pucker moment I don’t wish on anyone. I’m glad my family members at least went quick and didn’t have to suffer long. I took care of my grandad after a stroke 2 years and he suffered bad. America will vaccine up faster than rest of word and be back to business this year I think. Then hopefully kick some ass.

Default Sorry for your loss

Irish, you put the reality into the moment. I too lost my younger sister last April. My son and his girlfriend just had it last month but pulled through. It's that Russian Roulette thing so famously used on these boards. Funny how the condom thing is big but not so much for the mask. I don't understand it...

@Irish Joker: Sorry to hear about your family. That has to be tough to have gone through. I can't imagine.

Do you plan on getting the vaccine?

So other than there were two gunmen who shot JFK and Marilyn Monroe was drugged/ killed because she was carrying JFKs baby.......they are the only two conspiracy theories I believe in........oh and it is possible that FDR knew the Jap Navy was headed west and assumed they were going to attack the PI...........the Covid is a VIRUS which I believe was ACCIDENTAL released by a Chinese Bio Hazard Lab doing research on how too prevent ALL BIRD FLU viruses.........but like all virus it went thought humans like a hot knife thought butter just like many diseases do in Africa, so we cant call it the flu even know it has many symptoms like the modern day flu. Hopefully the vaccines will help us develop resistance to this dreaded disease so that in 10 years we will consider it just another yearly flu..........

As for the lock downs..........I think shutting down the country/ world was a really bad idea.....it destroyed the economy and it will take at least a decade to recover.......if nothing else goes south (and there is plenty of things that can go......and probably will go south)

Dont get me started on shutting down schools........ we have taken SO much away from TWO years of HS students........part of there lives that they will NEVER get back and educationaly destroyed many lives and probably thousands of families.

Shut downs were simple because the hospitals were over whelmed and about to start turning people away.....as in I know you are dying, but you cant come in........simple because private hospitals were NEVER designed to handle this type of situation and politicians were unable to come up with better answers on how to prevent the rapid infection rates.

As for Hobby's thoughts about the hobby going away because GOVT wants to make everything traceable as in no more cash..........I agree he could be on too something and it should worry the hell out of all of us, even those not in the hobby.......anyone who does not believe in BIG Brother seeing all, knowing all, controlling all...... (IE 1984)

As for the rich getting richer...........ABSOLUTELY no doubt.........in times of stress the rich always get richer.......wars, depressions, pandemics, major disastrous, major storms.........those with money too loss, always seem too be in a position to make money off of others misfortunes.

The reality is that Covid is real. Sure, for almost everyone its just the flu, but for enough of us, its a killer.
The hospital here was overrun with cases over Christmas.
Selfish IDIOTS who travel, who deny they're sick as they die.
Its just 1918 all over again. That FLU became background noise once it killed the easy targets. Vaccines will save us.
Covid will be the same, just be sure to get a booster shot.
I personally know people who got it. It wasn't fun.
I haven't lost anyone yet, but know people who have.
Texas is nuts to go back to normal so soon. Vaccines are working, but we need to wait.
Our Governor may be an idiot (aren't all politicians), but let's try to get to herd immunity before we get back to normal.
I forgot my mask at the auto parts store the other day.
Was driving the other car and it needed wipers, they were cool , but I felt like an idiot.

Get the vaccine as soon as you can. We can't downstate, but Syracuse and points west have appointments. I may travel.

My mom, my inlaws have theirs, but I won't visit until I have it myself.

Cash is going nowhere. Its not this hobby, but just human nature.
I needed the car towed. Cash. There are still many upstanding places cash still is king. If you need to be crazy anonymous electronically, bitcoin, giftcars. Who knows, we may satisfy the little guy with gold doubloons someday. There will always be an underground economy.

I’ll take my chances with the vaccine. Sure, just like with any vaccine, that one in a million shot is going to go wrong for someone. But again, I’ll take my chances. Definitely do not want to deal with the short or long term effects of Covid. If you do, great, don’t get the vaccine and save more for us.

Thanks man. Yeah, I plan on getting it but I’m not in an eligible category.
