Default Local Rockabilly Musician Matt Hole Is Being Inducted Into The South Texas Music Walk Of Fame At The Executive Surf Club

Local Musician Matt Hole of the Rockabilly Band Matt Hole & The Hot Rod Gang is being Inducted into The South Texas Music Walk of Fame Saturday June 2 at the Executive Surf Club. Matt Hole is from England & moved to Corpus Christi 20+ years ago.

I remember back in the early 90's when I used to come back to Corpus Christi on vacation when I lived in Lubbock, Texas. I used to go to the Surf Club with my Sister on Wednesday nights to the Open Jam.

Michael O'Connor-Badass Guitar Player was one of the Hosts at the Open Jam. When O'Connor first moved from Corpus years ago, he played Guitar for Ray Wylie Hubbard. O'Connor has been a sideman for many other Musicians playing all over Texas, the USA & in Europe. O'Connor is very well respected by his Fellow Musicians. Ray Wylie Hubbard convinced O'Connor to write & record his own Music. Michael O'Connor is already a member of the South Texas Music Walk Of Fame.

Mike Robinson was the other Host of the Open Jam. Mike is a Badass Fiddle & Mandolin player with a wicked sense of humor. Mike & his wife Jill-she plays upright bass in their Bluegrass Band Rosewood. Both Mike & Jill are avid Bikers, they ride Japanese Touring Bikes & go all over Texas on their Bikes.

A buddy of mine Robin used to play at the Open Jam & Matt Hole used to play at the Open Jam in the early 90's. The Open Jam at the Surf Club was Matt Hole's intro into the Corpus Music Scene before he formed the Rockabilly Band Matt Hole & The Hot Rod Gang.

Matt Hole & The Hot Rod Gang & San Antonio Country/Rockabilly Band Two Tons Of Steel will be playing Saturday night June 2 at the Executive Surf Club. Two Tons Of Steel is one of my Favorite Texas Bands.

The Friday Entertainment Section has an Article & lists all the 2012 South Texas Music Walk of Fame Inductees-Matt Hole & The Hot Rod Gang, Two Tons Of Steel, Latin Talk, Karen Abrahams, Conjunto's Dancing Cowboy Mingo Saldivar, South Texas Jazz Pioneers The Caceres Brothers. Each band will receive a Ceramic Star with their name in The South Texas Music Walk of Fame. The Stars/Tiles with the Band's names are between The Surf Club & Water Street Restaurants placed in the sidewalk.

The South Texas Music Walk of Fame Festival was started 9 years ago by the owner of Water Street Restaurants & The Executive Surf Club Brad Lomax & Sue Donahoe whom used to manage Surf Club Records for Lomax. There are 55 Stars in the South Texas Music Walk of Fame. The prequisite is the band has to be from South Texas.

After talking to my Sister, she told me it was around 1995 when Matt Hole started playing at the Executive Surf Club's Open Jam on Wednesday nights.
