In the market for a new truck.
Now, I have always been a Chevy man, but the new Fords are a thing of beauty! What to do? What to do?

Would love to buy a new Ram. What's a mid range model going for these days?

Warning in advance, I'm a Ford guy so of course I'm going to say Ford. To me personally, the exterior and interior of the Ford truck looks better than Chevy and everyone that I know that have the twin turbo ecoboost say that it's more efficient than the V-8s that both Ford and Chevy have.

The Dodge always looks nice, but I can't bring myself to buy anything Chrysler. Their reliability is terrible.
I do love my Silverado though.

You have hit on every reason why I'm considering the change.

My Ram has been anything but reliable. 362000 miles and still driven daily.
The rest of Chrysler? Well maybe not so much

I drive a short bed, standard cab '04 Dodge 1500 4x4 with a 5.7 hemi. It will go places the goat on the hood is afraid of, leave a cloud of tire smoke peeling out of the Sonic, it's tough as a WalMart round steak and my grandkids love the engine noises. Reliable, as in 180K miles, 15 mpg if I can keep my foot out of it.
Problem with a Dodge truck, like my old Ford diesels, is that the basic truck is indestructible but the accessories crap out one after another (Seat belt won't retract, air controls break off, switch key breaks and jams, glove box falls open, body squeaks and the radio is posessed by the ghost of Dick Clark.)

I've got a 2015 F250 Crew Cab Diesel that's a good truck. It's a 4 wd, which I really don't need.... but it's nice to have. 23 mpg on the highway an 17 in town. In the diesels, the Fords have the most power and torque. Dodge has the Cummins engine, but the bodies fall apart. And the Chevy High Country, and the GMC Denali are gentlemens trucks. Best ride, and quietest cabs. But they don't have the capabilities of the Ford or Dodge.
If you're gonna buy a Ford, go out to Randall Noe in Terrell. Or go see Brad Clem, out at Prestige Ford. He's the fleet manager. As for a GMC, go see James Woods in Decatur.
I don't drive 1/2 ton trucks. But guys speak well of the Ram Eco Diesel

I want a pickup truck just so it's big enough when I want to haul a sofa or a king size box spring and mattress.
I don't need 4WD or extra towing (will never tow anything) or extra cab (I am not in construction or some field work where I will have to take a work crew around).
What can I get for about $30,000 new or late model (less than 3 years) pre-owned?
I've been kind of looking at the Toyota Tundra.

I swore up and down I'd never own a chrysler, but I got a 2013 ram and Ive been happy ever since. Had a titan before that and it was the biggest piece of junk.
