Personal Decision
That is strictly a personal decision based on the particular lifestyle you want and willing to sacrifice for.
It also depends on the geographical location you live and the cost of living for the age you are living in.
Personally, I have a definite number in my head that I am shooting for, but the longer it takes to reach the higher the number goes because of inflation.
. . . So you'd better get moving!

Easy to define, but subjective in terms of amount...based on individual
But to define...when you no longer have to work and answer to no one other than love ones
Or in perhaps accountant's terms...when the annual income from ur nest egg (i.e. savings), after tax, is more than what u comfortably spend in a year
Just my opinion

$10MM in liquid assets - ie not including home(s), cars, etc... is my threshold....
$1MM is a joke - lots of people have "stuff", but in a jam, they are hard pressed to come up with a significant amount of free cashflow...

I always think I'm rich when I have enough in my pocket for a sloppy BJ!
Funny thing is the closer you get to dying the more most folks are trying to save. For what I don't know....

Rich is for me that I don't have to worry about money, now or in the future and that I don't have to depend on an employer who can pay me or can fire me.
As for standard of living I do like luxury but it doesn't have to be extreme.

its not always money, but in keeping with the question.....
all i wanted as a little kid was a magic coin purse, so that every time i squeezed it, a quarter would pop up.

I see you've read Noble House. Rush Limbaugh once defined rich as someone who has one more dollar than you have.
"Go Fuck Yourself Money" is the term used in the book. I guess it depends on what you want to do with yourself. In Noble House the young, smart, attractive female businesswoman thought in terms of 4-5 million dollars (1960 dollars). The head of Noble House told her that he could see her with 35-40 million dollars within 10 years. I knew a guy in the service who put everything he made into the stock market. His plan was to spend 20 years in the service and then retire. Truly retire. He seemed to have knack for the market. After five years he had about 150,000 put away. That was in the early 80s.

Rich is when you don' know how many homes you own or when you have the gall to bet someone $10,000 on national tv during a televised debate now that's rich.
Honestly to me Rich is when you basically can live and spend with no financial worries- if you can go to a car dealership and pick any car you want- or go to a jewelry store and pick any size carat your heart desires or if you tell a realtor find me the biggest and most lavish home on the market- if you can do those 3 things you are rich in my book.

I'd sooner wish for a pint of Guinness that never runs dry . . . I may never understand WTF, but I certainly wouldn't give a tinker's damn.
(not that I care now)

im thinking maybe he equates the action of a coin purse with a woman's genitalia ..i had to think about it for a bit...i dunno..the slit????? his ganglia finds its homing beacon of sex thoughts and locks in no matter how far it may stray and returns to the safety of that secret cave
