When is it time to stop being a provider?

Recently I was at a birthday party in SF and ran into an escort my uncle visited over the years. She was at various events with him and occasionally at the same event that my aunt (his wife) was at. My uncle had to stop seeing her 10 years ago because of health issues. I ran into this escort recently and we chatted for a bit. I asked is she still escorting and she yes. She’s been an escort for 31 years and still has a handful of clients! She is probably in her 60s and very well kept courtesy of plastic surgery. Damn, 31 years? She is not pimped or anything like that. She voluntarily stays an escort by choice. As a provider, when is it time to stop and exit this hobby? I’m sure the hobby is always a crutch for some fast cash, but when is time to go and stay gone? I doubt many providers enter this hobby with the goal of getting a lifetime achievement award.

I started out in Spring 2010, in my 40's.

Had always worked legit jobs in healthcare prior.

I must admit, I was shocked anyone would be interested in a woman my age back then. Now I realize how fortunate I am to look as nice as I do at my age. I have always been a vegetarian, never smoked cigarettes and never drank alcohol. I do not even drink soda pop and I avoid processed foods. My health has always been excellent so even though I will never be a pin up, I have always been pretty.

I think I will stop doing this when I stop getting great calls from great guys who don't want to see me anymore. I already am working on a new career, something that will not involve looks or illicit activities.

Funny thing about this business from my perspective as someone who started out much later in life: It can be extremely empowering for a woman to learn how to choose which inquiries to take. I am constantly surprised how very nice the men are who contact and visit me. The longer I do this, the more I like and admire men. It has increased my confidence and my empathy like nothing before. I am so grateful for my career choice and the happiness it has brought me.

Like cinderbella, I stated providing late, age 47, and am now 58. I live way out in the deep, dark, spooky woods as a "semi-retired" tart caring for a herd of wee woofs and a lush Garden of Eaten. It's been tons o' fun, fulfilled many of my travel dreams, and plying the profession paid off the Irish Chihuahua Refuge years early, so I'm grateful for what the Hobby has provided me! I don't get into town as frequently as I used to, but I continue to enjoy my playtime and saucy socializing. Evidently some gents still get a kick out of my carnal companionship. Since I'm in a position to be choosy and very low-volume thanks to a core handful of longtime loyal regulars I'm so appreciative of, I'm a lucky lassie, indeed!
