With all these accusations floating around, alleging sexual misconduct by the men in Hollywood, am I the only one who thinks the ladies are engaged in a form of prostitution? Most of them consent to sexual favors for work.

I realize there's a power imbalance that puts women into a submissive role, but most of them aren't being 'forced' to do anything.

I'm not defending rapists or victim-blaming. I'm asking if u think some women are pseudo-hookers for exchanging sex for fame?

Well said... I can't view some of these women as 'heroes' for finally speaking up. Some of them got filthy rich and allowed thousands of other women to be preyed upon. If anything they're accomplices.

Only an idiot would generalize about these things. Every allegation is different. Some have merit, others don't. Some are credible, others aren't. To say "most of the women" in hollywood - or anywhere else - "consent to sexual favors for work" is an ignorant generalization.

We're witnessing a huge cultural shift. Scumbag guys are being exposed everywhere. Many of the women knew exactly what they were getting into, and many of them profited from it. But somehow, according to the media and popular opinion, the guys are predators and the ladies are victims.

"Most of them" is a generalization. Harvey Weinstein now has over 80 accusers. Granted, a few are probably false or questionable. But to go from that fact to the claim that "most women in hollywood" freely "consent to sexual favors for work" is absurd. The guy is so grotesque few women would think of such a quid pro quo. They agreed to meet with the creep, not have sex or watch him masturbate. Most of them were grossed out, realized they made a big mistake, and tried to get out of the room as quickly as possible.

Not saying its right or wrong, but this stuff has been going on for decades. The 'casting couch' term came from somewhere. Many men and women became stars and profited from it. Some actors/actresses made it on their own, some gave head to get ahead. Increased media exposure and our legal system allows one to profit from any sort of advance, action, statement, etc.. I am sure there is a lot more dirt like this that could be uncovered if it wasn't already paid off in one form or another. Maybe old Harvey thought it was the 70's again.
