Default Obama is encouraging companies to break the law.
On January 2 several things will happen no matter who gets reelected. Congress will not be back in session until the first Tuesday and they have book keeping to do before they get down to business. Taxes go up for 90% of the people. Your healthcare goes up and hospitals will be fined for sending people home who return within 30 days. If you come to the hospitall twice or more in 30 days you will have to talk to an end of life specialist. Can you say death panel. One thing that will happen is that many defense contractors will have major lay offs. According to federal law the companies have to give their employees 60 days notice before a lay off. If they don't do the 90 days then they get fined. Obama has approached this companies and "suggested" that they no issue the notices. Notice, not keep people on the job but not to tell people that they are going to be laid off. When they get fined Obama has promised that the government (see taxpayer) will cover the fines. Obama is breaking the law under the Ricco Act. A conspiracy to violate the law.

A State Dislocated Worker Unit Coordinator can provide more information on notice requirements in a specific area.
DOL has no enforcement role in seeking damages for workers who did not receive adequate notice of a layoff or received no notice at all. However, they can assist workers in finding a new job or learning about training opportunities that are available.
