Stephanè Hessel on Occupy Wallstreet "Find the time for outrage"
Hello,
Stephanè Hessel, who was a French resistance fighter during WWII, who, in the aftermath, survived concentration camp and wrote a book called "Time for Outrage". He is a great fighter for humanist values and here is his opinion on OWS, quite noteworthy:
"Democracy Now!'s Juan Gonzalez interviewed Hessel earlier this month. "You must find the things that you will not accept, that will outrage you. And these things, you must be able to fight against nonviolently, peacefully, but determinedly," Hessel says, noting his support for the Occupy Wall Street encampment. "They're there determined to see that their values are to be respected."

Trouble
A wise man will avoid trouble whenever he can.
A penchant of actively looking for trouble only guarantees that you will find it.
You can dress it up as a noble pursuit, but still that is only what a fool does.

It’s so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don’t say it.

Socialism doesn't work; Europe is disintegrating because of it. The occupiers want America to go down the same socialist path as Europe.
They're nuts.

No, they are not a failed state. Ironically, controlling Germany was one of the main objectives of the EZ. That aside, there are always good examples in any sub-set. I didn’t see that joe blow limited socialism to just universal healthcare. Universal healthcare does not socialism make it is just one of the good things about socialism, but there are many, many more characterizes that make it a failing system of government. Further, socialism is only one of the key elements that is bring the EZ down. Tthere are other basic facts, like you can’t have a common currency if you don’t have a common government, and dramatically different social concerns and resources is another factor.
I disagree with the Mr. Hessel. I don’t think I need to go looking for things that outage me. There are plenty of them lying about in plain site. I do agree with him that there is real reason for We the People to be outraged by the things that lead to take over of our government by Wall Street and other industries. It’s called fascism, and it sickens me.
I do think the Occupy Movement would do themselves a favor if they were to create a thesis of grievances if they are going to have any real success. I don’t see that happening because of all the thousands of people involved there are just about as many grievances.

Thesis
Well, that is an interesting idea, but they would need a leader before they could formulate one and they don't even have that.
The whole Occupy Wall Street movement really bothers me, because these people have genuine grievances, but all that rage needs a focus to be effective.

Actually they were sick of war and death throughout the centuries, Germany (or better stated WWII) just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's proverbial back.

Yes, that is why there really is no such thing as a purely capitalist society or socialist society. There are degree of both. To spout off some such nonsense about Socialism not working is ignorant of the actual facts. An ideal society would find the middle ground , Germany seems to have struck a balance.

And Crony Capitalism is bringing down this society. The problem is people are to stupid to see it. They blame everything on Socialism. See how they cried about Obama care. That is an example of crony cap, not universal health care. Both systems are about power and the fight to control it.
