Legalization
Ya know we are close to getting GT legalized in so many states...Unfortunately I dont see prostitution ever getting there and its kinda stupid but I understand...
We dont like or want human trafficking or children being exploited ...but unfortunately it happens
Anyone ever think maybe someday it might....hell wasn't it a some 100 years ago it was legal right here in our own city
Other countries like Germany and The Netherlands monitor it...why cant we get on board

It just doesn't cost society that much to prosecute and people haven't gotten to the point of openly talking about it. But Christians are losing some influence , maybe someday

I think within the next decade, possibly sooner than that, we will begin to see changes in prostitution laws.
How about I run for city council? My proposal would be as follows:
1. Legalize and regulate it.
2. Offer a 90 day sex workers permit.
3. Require a negative drug screen, negative STD screen, and proof of legal age (if I had my 'druthers I would set the age for a SWP at age 21)
4. Provide a permit with a face pic, and the ID# of the permit. Require providers to include their ID in ads on the internet.
Let LE focus on those providers who do not have a permit. If they can't qualify because they can't pass a drug screen, STD screen, or meet the age requirement, then these are the providers that LE should be focusing on anyways. Every other lady who is operating legitimately and safely can then be left in peace to ply our trade. Everyone wins.

I would point out that this is not completely a "christian" thing. There are several feminist groups who want to ban prostitution because they want to "empower" women. You figure out the logic but that is their position.

Decriminalize, like New Zealand.
Too much regulation would discourage providers who might then just continue to operate illegally. Why not just decriminalize individual adults? Agree about regulating associated activities. Want to place an ad? Produce proof of age. Want to run an escort business? Pass a background check and be subject to regulations same as any other adult business. In that setting stricter regulation would help prevent third party abuse. Removing the criminality factor for consenting adult providers would make everybody safer.

Prostitution in Nevada
Examining Safety, Risk, and Prostitution Policy

Proponents of legalizing prostitution believe it would reduce crime, improve public health, increase tax revenue, help people out of poverty, get prostitutes off the streets, and allow consenting adults to make their own choices. They contend that prostitution is a victimless crime, especially in the 11 Nevada counties where it remains legal.
Opponents believe that legalizing prostitution would lead to increases in sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS, global human trafficking, and violent crime including rape and homicide. They contend that prostitution is inherently immoral, commercially exploitative, empowers the criminal underworld, and promotes the repression of women by men

I keep reading this thread and am amazed at how many have legalization and decriminalization confused.
Maybe this will help some with what the differences are.
http://www.differencebetween.net/lan...iminalization/
I am for the complete legalization with NO restrictions or regulations on what two (or more ) consenting adults do behind closed doors.

Prostitution is legal in Nevada except in Clark County (Las Vegas) and Reno County (Reno). I believe it is legal in the capital city of Carson City.

I'm still confused
so speeding is legal?
1.Legalization makes an act completely acceptable in the eyes of the law and is, therefore, not subject to any penalties.
2.Decriminalization simply means that an act is no longer regarded as a criminal crime but is still subject to penalties or fines, much like getting a speeding ticket.
But speeding is still illegal. I get tickets, IE its NOT legal for me to speed so decriiminalinalization means, I won't get hauled off to jail, but what I'm doing is still illegal
so unless something is legal, I can still get fined/put in jail/shot for doing it.

There will be no decriminalization without legalization.
It will work just the way Sins said it, and a lady will have to register. It will be a backhanded way to sabotage those involved. The women who do this with a goal in mind, as a stepping stone to a brighter future will not register, and will continue to be criminals.
Legalization would only drive pimps and any minors under their hold further underground. There have always been ways to work discreetly without advertising. Eros asks ID of ladies who advertise in a certain age group.
I wish it were that simple. But the government will have to reconcile the income loss that would come from legalization.

It could force testing so safer for the men, and I believe they'd receive more in taxes should be received as long as the ladies admit to how much they make. Even if it was only in certain cities in each state, either the big cities like Austin, Kansas City, etc or maybe neighboring smaller cities. But then they could focus on other things that are more dangerous.
