(13-WHAM) - A local family feud over money is going to court.
Rock star Lou Gramm, former lead singer of the band Foreigner, is being sued by his brother Richard Grammatico, who up until last year played guitar in the Lou Gramm Band.
Grammatico's lawsuit claims he's owed more than $166,000 for loans made to his brother and for back pay.
Richard Grammatico also alleges brother Lou Gramm defamed him by accusing him of theft, and seeks punitive damages in the suit.
The lawsuit claims the two have not spoken since April, when Richard Grammatico was fired by his brother..
13WHAM's Doug Emblidge spoke to Lou Gramm by phone Tuesday afternoon. He called all of this "not a happy occasion."
The suit, filed in May, claims Richard Grammatico provided a loan of about $56,000 to his brother for the purchase of a Webster home. According to the lawsuit, the money was to be paid back out of the rock star's retirement account or from the sale of another Webster home.
Richard Grammatico also accuses his brother of not paying him for handling bookings for the Lou Gramm Band, arranging travel and other business matters. Richard Grammatico claims he also helped manage his brother's personal affairs, including setting out prescription medications. Lou Gramm has been battling serious health problems since the removal of a benign brain tumor in 1997.
