3 Revolutions – just an old man’s opinions and thoughts….

3 Revolutions – just an old man’s opinions and thoughts….
1. Taxation without “Representation” – the Revolutionary War – 1776
2. End of “Slavery” The “Civil” War – 1861
3. Slavery to Taxation? – 20??
The majority of Americans are taxes at an outrageous rate. The middle class is carrying an unfair burden without representation for the “elected” officials who have been bought and paid for big business and the criminal element of this land. The “poor” are living off “welfare” funds robbed from those who have paid into social security and unemployment insurance who will either die before every receiving funds or simply get cents on the dollars paid in…..is there any chance of reform? Without a 3rd revolution? Will that 3rd be a peaceful or violent change? What form could a peaceful revolution take? What could cause the revolution?
All good questions?

So how could there a peaceful revolution? If a 3rd party could come from the roots of the Libertarian Party and somehow be successful, after a generation or two when all the “politicians” have been phased out and we have citizen representatives it could happen. Or one of the options in the fairy tale could take place…

I voted peacefully. But I could change my mind. I say roots from the Tea party, Libertarians & open minded moderates. The clueless they are on their own. I did not say helpless...

I think there is a chance. I had hopes when Tea started and when Occupy began.
I think there are some reforms that could help too.
My key is citizen politicians. Not more than 12 years in office for any national elected office. Takes a while to corrupt completely.

We are supposed to have citizen politicians. What we don't need are career politicians. Nor do they need to get retirement for serving just one term.

Your whole premise is wrong.
Federal taxes haven't been this low for fourty years. Half the public pays no Federal income tax at all. The rest pay rates so low that revenues are only 15% of GDP when they've usually been 18%.
Federal taxes have been cut and cut over and over again the last few years, from the slashing of the capital gains rates in 1994 to the Bush tax cuts to Obama's lopping of one percent of social security witholding a year ago......the cuts go on and on......
You believe taxes are high because of property taxes, sales taxes, state income taxes, all of which are up hundreds of percent in the last twenty years.
The poor have to pay for all these taxes, even if they're only renters it's reflected in their rents.
Added to that the inflation that's occured in the last thirty years because of the speculation in housing, and the prices of automobiles, gasoline, utilities, doctors and lawyer fees, etc.....
Everyone's focused on the Federal side because they get all the attention in the national media, which is where most people watch their news.
But the only real offenders are the county, city, and state governments.
If you want lower taxes start with slashing the police budgets. In my neighborhood in Austin someone called in a domestic disturbance and three armoured vehicles, a three ton SWAT vehicle, and a command center larger than Willie Nelson's bus all rolled in for NOTHING.
Then there's the local police AIR FORCE of totally unnecessary helicopters which cost tens of millions a year to buy and maintain. Local government, particularly LE, is a joke of totally unaccountable WASTE. Our Sheriff's Captains here make about $130,000. a year. Our city manager gets $450,000 a year. Our school superintendant gets $400,000 a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

I like to think that any revolution will be more of a strike. The federal government issues orders and the states refuse to comply. It would start with one courageous governor who peacefully occupies all federal buildings, orders out all federal employees, and invites the military personnel to leave their equipment behind as they make their choice. It leaves the next move up to the president and the world will be watching. I think this president would be stymied and hesitate. Other states would join the strike and the president can attack or resign. I think most active duty military will follow the Constitution and sit this one out as long as it stays non violent.
It won't be taxes that is the breaking point (much like slavery didn't start the Civil War, it was firing on Fort Sumter) but something else will trigger things.

This one is a little unclear. Not direct payment is the implication?

This is a new dirction and will take some time to verify. I am familiar with things in Austin but the exact items can be checked I am sure. Thats for opening a new window of discussion Austin.
