there are two broad camps in american politics

to generalize:

one camp tends to have as a principle, personal integrity

The other camp has as a principle, win no matter what, ostensibly because "we have better and smarter ideas" but I tend to think those without integrity just are more personally greedy. this is not to say there aren't individuals in this camp without some integrity although those with integrity do tend to flock to the other camp for truth matters to them.

lying can be done and is done in both camps however the principle of integrity serves as a governor in one camp, there is no like challenge to bad conduct in the other camp.

non-adherence to integrity in one camp, when discovered, serves as a great disqualifier, in the other camp it does not
