Old rituals

There was an indian tribe that would send their young men to visit the local widows. These ladies would then teach the village youths about the pleasures and wants of a woman. I remembered this fact the other day, and raising two young gentlemen myself, starting weighing the pros and cons of this old tradition. I also reasoned this would be a great forum and possibly the only place to get input on this ritually for a modern society. Just thinking theoretically, not actually, if ur son was 17 years old and still ignorant of the most holy of the holy places, would you find a willing provider for him and providers how would u be understanding with the situation or be unable to deal with it?

I think any woman still in possession of their morals should stay away from that. Your first time, like your first kiss, should go to someone special, who sets your soul on fire. It should be a magical moment to reminisce over and savor retelling your children and grandchildren when they ask what it was like. I feel that hiring someone out for that would be robbing that young person of that experience. I know it probably won't be a popular opinion, but it's how I feel.

So, where's this tribe of casanova-indians now? At the helm of a great society that influences the art, culture and economics of the global civil society? Dominant in their region and populating continents with the superior genetics and foresighted traditions? Ruling from the shadow, pulling the strings of puppet-states?

Or are they isolated, ineffectual and virtually forgotten outside of academia because their culture was notoriously greedy, short-sighted, brutal and backwards? (As evidenced by this "tradition")

To answer your question, looking at the rituals of a stone-age society and wondering "what if" is one thing. Signing up to live by them is fucking stupid. The Mayans routinely clubbed their children and threw them into sinkholes as sacrifices for bountiful harvests. Sound rational?

And this... This is just sad. It's fucking, not communing with the universe. Your first time is awkward, exhilarating, sometimes painful and/or gross. You should just get it behind you so you can start enjoying sex.

I am going to go against the "normal Chick" response and go with a "rational parent" view..... Your son can, and eventually will, have sex with a young inexperienced girl, and will probably make every wrong decision known to man!!
Why not get him a hooker?? I say do it!! If thats what he wants.
First time sex is weird and usually very quick. Go MSOG!!
No strains of an awkward relationship.
Protection, no one ends up with a baby at 18, then Quits school to get a job at the gas station to support a baby, and ends up living in his room with baby and baby momma for years.
Protection, no one ends up with the clap or God knows what.
Knowledge, let someone who knows what they are doing teach him...his future wife/girlfriend will appreciate this.
I'm sure others will have more to add.....

I could go either way on this one. I agree with the bulk of WU and Ender's comments, but I also understand what you're trying to do for your son(s). I'd say this: If you have some reason to fear that he won't be able to find his way to the "holy of holies" on his own, either because of appearance issues, social awkwardness, or whatever, this isn't a terrible idea. But, I sort of half-agree with CFE. Not for romantic reasons, but for his feeling of self-reliance, you should probably give him every opportunity to find it on his own before stepping in with assistance. Like I said, I can argue it both ways.

I don't think "morality" comes into play here. All of us on this board are here because we've rejected at least one tenant of socially acceptable morality. Where each of us chooses to draw our own moral lines is up to the individual, at least in my humble opinion. Take it for what it's worth.
