Default Dangerous toys
When I was 6, Alan Shepherd flew in the Mercury spacecraft. My parents, caught up in the space wave at the time bought me a spring powered rocket for Christmas. It was too strong for me to push in to insert, so my dad would do it. We put the little 5 inch rocket and pressed the button and it would countdown 10 seconds and launch.

That rocket usually left dents in the ceiling. I loved standing over it and moving at the last moment before liftoff.

Later on I was given BB guns and later a .22 rifle (safety first).

Anyone else have toys back then or even now that you played with that were too dangerous for today's generation?

Our old toys are not too dangerous for today's generation, just their dumbass parents who didn't learn from their own mistakes.

I don't remember what they called it but it was a device that you could use to meld plastic sheets into different shapes. It got hot as hell and you sat there breathing fumes from the hot plastic. And yet somehow we survived. These days there would be a million lawsuits.

Along with the BB gun and 22, I also had a nice reserve bow, chemistry set, and a wood burning kit. All before 10.

Our dog limped a lot and had patches of hair missing. No one could figure that out.

I actually built one from scratch for a class science fair. Alcohol and dry ice. I used thorium from a university lab. I was 10. Remember the old radium wrist watch faces?
