China Preparing for War
This is not so funny. President Hu is telling his Navy to prepare for combat in the Pacific. I wish we had a President whose foreign policy experience was greater than just shooting an unarmed old man.

We need someone who can handle this. I don't see anyone on their way.

Oh, I dunno....he's been running a couple of wars with some success. You disrespect the men and women fighting those wars with these kinds of statements, politically motivated (and misguided) though they may be.
As for the Chinese navy, they've got one old refurbished aircraft carrier that they bought from Russia a few years back. I think it will be a while before they look to stir any shit with the United States Navy. So, the sky isn't falling.

Never will I disrespect our fighting soldiers. But I have no respect for their Commander in Chief.

Yeah, you say that but then it wasn't Obama who shot some "unarmed old man" was it? It was a team of SEAL operators who, at great risk, flew into Pakistan and executed that raid with precision and courage. You denigrate them with your characterization.
As for your disrespect for our President, your silly refusal to give credit where credit is due is baffling. We hunted down and killed the man responsible for murdering 3,000 Americans. You may think that's nothing. Some of us disagree.
But, politics and ideology trump facts in the conservative Republican world.....carry on.

I am not a conservative Republican, and while I respect the office of President, there is very little to respect in the man holding that office.
But I do agree that politics and ideology trump facts in the conservative Republican world, as it does in the liberal Democrat world. You're delusional if you think otherwise.
But if the President will veto the NDAA, I will reconsider at least some of my lack of respect.

Sabre Rattling
You are quite misinformed if you think our commander in chief is not up to the task of dealing forcefully with China if required.
Do you so soon forget that President Obama was the one who brought down Bin Ladin, the menace who eluded capture for so many years?
Anyway, China knows better than to tangle with the USA and that is not their intention. That would be suicide and they know it well.
. . . The practice is known as saber rattling in diplomatic circles.

China isn't really in a position to challenge the US in the Pacific. They already know this. Their recent statements are nothing new, they've been doing this for decades and we've been constantly deflecting their efforts to extend their influence over the other countries in the Pacific and Asia. Look at their efforts to regain Taiwan since the mid-20th century.
Still, we have to be on our guard. China may not be able to project military power very far, but if we get into a spat with them close to their borders it will be ugly.

I know China isn't a real threat, yet. But I am convinced that our President is not up to the task if they rattle their sabres too loud. Killing an unarmed Bedouin does not compare to dealing with China, and I think he balled up the killing of Bin Laden.
Obama scares me much more than China.

China is following the lead from a former US foe, Japan. They will not bring us down with military might, but through economic disaster.
The battles of today are not fought on the high seas or on the mighty plains, but rather in the corporate boardrooms.
One day a pilot will walk out to his plane, a captain will step on to the bridge, and when they try to go off to battle, will be told, "Sorry, we need a certain electronic chip, a memory card, or some other device, to run this machine of war. China refuses to sell it to us, and we have long foresaken our ability to manufacture, so we are doomed."

Actually, the vast majority of those in Washington, and those wanting to move there in 2013, scare me.

Fear
You seem to have a lot of unfocused and unfounded fear, my friend.
The news lives and thrives on selling fear.
You should remember Roosevelt's reassurance to the country when he said:
"We have nothing to fear, except fear itself"
There is profound wisdom in those words that people seem to forget and need to be reminded from time to time.

You're right, I overstated. But I don't like them at all. Years ago, I heard a guy give a speech about all the bad stuff going on. He said to not let all the corruption and lies get to you because it can ruin your life. Be happy, regardless. Be aware, but don't let it run your life. I try to live by that. So I expect to be happy, even when the TSA comes to escort me to a FEMA camp.
