Single Mom Job Ideas

I have a friend who is a single mother and going through some really rough times. She needs a job and income to support her and her child but as many people know its tough to do with child care and other obstacles, I was hoping some of the ladies or even the gentlemen on the board might have some suggestions for her. She isn't interested in escorting or stripping but was hoping I might get some creative suggestions.

I did suggest house cleaning and she was open to that, maybe even in a bikini or something but she is afraid of someone pushing things further then that. She is a cute girl (super tiny, 5ft 90lbs) but she can't wait tables (gets overwhelmed).

Just trying to help an old friend out and thought I might get some creative ideas from here, especially because the ladies have thought outside the box in their profession so maybe they have some other outside the box ideas they could share.

I suggested cam modeling and that was a maybe but she doesn't have money for some of the computer equipment and looking into that I'm not sure how profitable it is. She doesn't have any specific skills I'm aware of. The classic retail, minimum skills job history, and relationships with a string of abusive men which is why I'm trying to help her. She isn't interested in any sex for money situation.

I was thinking of cleaning houses, babysitting, dog walking, dog babysitting, maybe clean up the dog waste of peoples yards. Simple flexible jobs where she could earn an income while her kid is out of school for the summer.

I knew the men would jump straight to stripping or escorting but I was hoping for more creative but probably less lucrative job or business ideas. She doesn't need to be rich just survive the summer with roof over her head then we're gonna try to get her in a cna program in school and get her more stable.

I help her out from time to time, not sleeping with her, but I want her to work on being independent and not depending on men or others to support herself. I feel like giving someone I know cash and then sleeping with them starts getting exploitive. This isn't a "I discovered new talent" thing, its a person I've known for a long time needs help and I'm looking for some creative solutions. I think the drop in baby sitting might be the winner and I thank Sami for that great suggestion.

If anyone else has other ideas in that same vein it would be interesting to hear.

Shamrock, it is extremely commendable what you are trying to do. I have a small place with a dog, that I can't seem to keep clean. I am up North, but would be willing to help out. She could clean and take the dog out if she so desired. PM if that would be what she is looking for, I wouldn't even be home.

That's a good idea to ii10. I tour & when I fly I have to leave my little dog with a sitter. I personally like to leave her with one person verses a kennel.

If she is responsible, and HONEST, dog sitting can pay. When I travel I have to board my dorks. Sometimes I hire a dog sitter. She would come to the house twice a day, $30 a visit. She would let the monsters outside, feed, water, clean if necessary. Sometimes she would bring her kids and they would play with the dorks and she would sit and read or bring a laptop and surf a while.

You are truly asking the wrong people for advice man. She doesnt have a sitter or job skills she will be forced to work some crappy retail job or unloading a truck for like walmart or something. She could get a SD to help her out short term so she can buy equipment for being a webcam model. The income isn't bad if she is willing to put in the time and do what people want her to do. She wont have to touch guys in that situation.

She can also try to get on with a cleaning service like merry maids or whatever. They simply go from home to home and clean the house. Typically older folks who cant do it.

With the dog sitter gig, she can do seven + households a day. There is no start up costs. She just has to be able to handle dogs, and maybe a cat or two. Do a good job for a couple of clients and the word spreads quickly.

The maid service is the same way. It just depends on how much she is willing to work.
