Default Waco Kid's college football week 1

Each week upcoming games can be discussed and predictions made, name-calling after victories and general all-around college football discussion! Each week will be closed out by the next Monday and a new thread opened for the current college football schedule for each week.

Rules -

"Rules?? We don't need no stinkin’ rules!”

Actually we do.

WKWCFR rule 1

"Lies, damn lies and statistics!"

British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli

If you quote a stat, record, 3rd down conversion rate, an all-time mark or the number of jock straps an 85-man team needs ...

Post it! If you can't post a link to it, it's bogus!
What's valid in the Internet age? Just about anything! Any of the major sports publications, local newspapers, any of the big networks and official school and NCAA sites just to cover the big ones.

WKWCFR rule 2

Predictions must be posted 1 day in advance! If you haven't read the sports page and figgured out who's going to win by the day before ya never will!

Must be time stamped before Midnight the day before game-day, for any weekly games Thur-Sun on the current weekly schedule.

So there you have it, pretty basic! You can post on general topics of your favorite teams regardless of that week's opponent. Just remember WKWCFR rule 1

Your lips to God's ear....I'll take either or BOTH predictions, right now.

However....as mentioned before....with the issues per the Horns' O-line, I'm not so sure (especially starting / playing a frosh qb, Buechelle). Guess we'll find out, huh?

Hook 'em!

A couple of clarifications if I may:

LSU vs. Wisconsin is at Lambeau Field in Green Bay

Ole Miss vs. FSU is also neutral in Orlando

quite right. and the mad hatter has told his LSU players not to do the "Lambeau Leap" or expect to find your own way back to Baton Rogue. lol.

i wonder what Les has against Curly Lambeau anyway??

i wouldn't quite call Orlando a neutral site ... it's not the same as Bama vs SC playing at JerryWorld.
Neither is Lambeau Field for the cheeseheads.

and without Art's baggage. i'm fairly shocked by Briles's downfall at Baylor. he must be quite the hypocrite at church on Sunday knowing his players raped co-eds on Friday then won him a game on Saturday.

he got what he deserved.

i also never bought into the "Mack left no talent" bullshit. Brown had talent and won with it. Strong will never blame Mack for his slow start at UT. he knows better for more reason that one.

it was partly his own fault. and mostly the former AD Patterson. Patterson hired Strong, then handcuffed him on his initial staff at UT. would DeLoss Dodds do that to Mack Brown? no fucking way.

Strong tried to gather the best staff he could. had Patterson not blocked him, he could have had Chad Morris from Clemson but Patterson would not pay the huge buyout. it was 5 million which is like Head Coach buyout money. it only applies if he took another OC job so SMU didn't have to pay it. shows you what Dabo thought of Morris.

then Strong went after Tom Herman but Herman opted to stay at Ohio State because he knew that team was loaded and had a chance to win it all .. and they did. now he's at Houston in part due to that NC at Ohio State.

Watson was really at best third choice. he was ill suited to run a spread.

Strong has the right offensive staff now. just in time. with this offense we'll hang 50 on UTEP by halftime.

hell .. we could beat UTEP easily with last year's offense lol

remember Strong broke out at UofL in year three. this isn't Conference USA (now the AAC)
but i expect similar results. Tom Herman will NEVER be head coach at UT. well not for about 15 years at least.

Best opening day ranked match up on the list. giving the edge to Jimbo at home. he might need the crowd to win this one.

Final

ahahahaha. this is why i write this thread every season. at half time this looked like a "dog shit taco" pick. after the game it looks brilliant.
kinda surprised Jimbo started a frosh, the "sports hacks" said the senior Sean Maguire could have played. obviously Jimbo knew he was not 100%. so he played the healthy guy and won. that's what Jimbo does.

Youse guys are better with picks than the so called pros. Game Day boys got most of them wrong.

Gotta admit, this year got off to an exciting start.

Hope the rest of the season keeps pace with this first weekend.
