A girl!

Which development shocks the hell out of me. I'd been calling it "she" ever since my daughter told me she was expecting, but my experience is that anytime I have a 50-50 shot at guessing something correctly (true-false quizzes, calling the flip of a fair coin, etc.) I will get it wrong about 95% of the time, so I was certain it would be a boy. That'll show me.

I got to watch the ultrasound when they performed it; it was an interesting procedure (but I'd never witnessed one before; my daughter is adopted so we skipped out on those pleasures and just took custody of her from the birth mother when she was about 12 weeks old). My son-in-law says he's going to scan the ultrasound printout and send me a digital copy; I may post it here after I get it just because I can.

I think that statistically, there's a slightly better than 50% chance that any fetus will be a girl.

It is statistically impossible for you to incorrectly guess the toss of a coin 95% of the time but does prove that you're a pessimist...which adherence to the dictates of reality necessitates.

Congratulation BCG. I have a great grand daughter in a holding pattern it appears. Was due to arrive Monday. She refused to head out ( no pun intended). I always say they get here when ready.

Thank you, thank you. No problem with being late; I understand life getting in the way (haven't been here since what? Like Wednesday or so because of my own issues).

Meanwhile... The first sonogram I mentioned the baby wouldn't cooperate with the tech or her mother... they wanted to get a profile of the baby but she wouldn't move. My daughter's had to go in twice since then... the first time the kid was no more cooperative than the first time, and I had a blast giving my daughter shit about how the kid is taking after her (my daughter was a difficult child herself, as she now freely admits). But the third time was a charm. See attached...

My daughter says she's sucking on her thumb. Looks more to me like she's got her fist balled up in front of her face. Were she sippin' on some gin and mixer I'd say that she's taking after me.
