Needing advice on hotels in DC

HI Gents, looking to come to the DC area in March. I've never done a tour in DC and was wondering what hotels are safe to use? I was considering the Hyatt Rengency on Capital Hill. Any suggestions ? I would appreciate any feedback you guys can give me.
