The 150 Million dollar failure!!!!!!

You know during the recent white House Correspondence Dinner President Obama made a joke that Sheldon Adelson spent 100 million dollars of his own money to defeat Obama. Now granted Mr.Adelsen is a billionaire and spent his own money- but I wonder if 150 million dollars could have been spent much better-

Sarin by itself lasts on the order of weeks.

But sarin shells are often implemented as a binary chemical agent in which the 2 precursor chemicals are stored separately within the shell. They mix only at the time the shell is fired. In that case, the shelf life may be many years or decades.

The purity of the mix doesn't matter in a binary agent. That's why they are kept separate.

The impurities only affect the shelf life of Sarin AFTER it has been formed by mixing the two agents. Since that occurs when the shell is fired, the sarin only has to last for a matter of seconds.
