I assume you watched it on TV, which is horrible because it does not do it justice. The game is just too fast and poor camera angles.
Hockey must be seen in person. My opinion, the best place to watch a hockey game is from behind one of the goals about 15-20 rows high or lower. From that vantage point you see the beauty of the defenders backskating and the speed & power of the forward skaters, not to mention the goalies agility. The speed, power & finesse of these good-sized men is
phenomenal.
Back before the little girl got killed by a stray puck several years ago, and they put up netting above the end glass at all venues, seats just above the level of the glass was dangerous, but exciting.
I have more fun at hockey games then any Pro sport in town, not even close. It's the only one I can say is exciting! But again, only in person do I feel that way about it. It's too damn fast for TV.
