Matamoros hotel, motel and pass the border!

Hi, I'm new around here for the summer and I have some questions.
I was looking to take a room on matamoros and I would like to have some informations about how you pass the border ans wish hot or motel are the best options.

Can I pass the border for matamoros by walking easily?
Do I need to take a cab from the other side to go to a motel or walking is safe? If so, I much the taxi driver would cost me? Can I paid in us money or it better to paid in pesos?

Which motel or hotel are the best options for few jours and for a night at the lower and not so far by walking? Finally, does this motels or hotels all have wifi connection?

You need a Passport Card or a Passport to get back in the USA
Take a cab
If the hotel/motel has a Web site, then it should have some sort of WI FI
