How about the ethanol industry? farmers are subsidized for growing it ethanol plants are subsidized for producing it,should be selling a buck less than regular,plus cuts fuel economy.

I'm not generally for tax breaks for the oil companies, but it is ten times better than wasting our taxpayers dollars with loans on this green crap that doesn't work and is not viable as a business model.

Should be, but it isn't. And it isn't good on things like rubber o-rings and seals. It eats them up. And my car runs like crap on that stuff; pings and knocks like crazy, especially when the weather's warm, and I get crappy mileage from it.

Producing the corn to produce the ethanol takes a lot of diesel. It also isn't very miscible with the gasoline, it's my understanding the ethanol has to be trucked to distribution centers to be added just before going to the filling stations, can't be done at central refineries. Even if it could it still has to be trucked from corn growing country to the refineries (in far away states).
Of course, these tankers are likely dedicated, which means they have to drive back empty, thus doubling the delivery cost.

The use/subsidy of ethanol is rooted in the National Energy Conservation Act of 1978; passed by Jimmy Carter and the Democratically controled House and Senate.
Another example of why/how the Democrats screw working and middle class Americans at every turn.

No argument from me, I don't support tax breaks or taxpayer funded loans for any industry. I was simply saying the tax breaks for farmers growing corn has ended, therefore, not really an issue to debate any longer except for historical reference.

December 31, 2011 that is for ethanol production.
Without ethanol demand, the price of corn would have dropped substantially except for the increased cost of production due to rising fuel costs. The corn subsidies still exist though. Those go mostly to ADM, Cargill, Conagra, and other large corporations. I haven't heard Obama/Reid/Pelosi complaining about agricultural subsidies, which far outstrip the oil subsidies and employ less than 10% of the workforce. I wonder why not?
The ethanol subsidy was $6Billion annually.
