I was encouraged to (re)post this
"400 Error: Bad request" (or very similar wording). I get this almost every other time I click a URL around this site (but no other site). I'm signed in (I see saintsFanChris right where it should be when I'm logged in, etc. It wears on my nerves to constantly hit the 'back' button, then click the same URL again (which brings up the page I wanted in the first place). The extra steps and the extra load time does wear on me.
What can I do? I'm using the most recent version of firefox if you want the rest of the system details, let me know to whom to PM them.

PS: more info on the problem: If I leave to go to the bathroom, refill a drink, etc. When I return the "400 Error" doesn't happen for the first URL click (also if I'm taking a while to read / reread comments on a forum topic). So apparently, clicking the next URL desired 'too quickly' is part of the cause (what 'too quickly' I can only say is somewhere between 1.1 seconds and 1.1 minutes... haven't dialed it in much more than that, although it's likely between 5 and 55 seconds is the longest time where the "400 Error..." presents itself.
This one has me weirded.

this means the server didnt understand the request it was being sent. you say hitting bank helps, and 'too quickly' hurts.
questions:
does this happen on multiple websites or just this one? you said yes
does it happen on multiple browsers or just firefox? (try chrome or reinstalling firefox its fast and free)
Do you keep your PC updated? Antivirus? windows firewall? ( its easy for malware to corrupt things going out. download malwarebytes , its free)
Did you jsut change ISP? (try rebooting your cable modem, etc, or could even be physical and maybe you need a new network cable.
Do you get the error on simple URLs ?. If you get a problem with a long complicated URL (such as http://www.xxx.com?PHPrequest=643&value=dres&cookies=No) but not with a shorter simpler URL for the same site (such as http://www.xxx.com), this can indicate a problem with the Web server. This is not conclusive evidence, but is a good starting point. Contact the owners of the Web site and describe the problem to them.
My hunch its just some malware thats screwing around with http GETS.

I have MacBook Pro, it's running Mac OS 10.6.8; Intel Core 2 Duo processor (it was high end 16 months ago). My antivirus is updated, I hate Safari and don't use it except in extremis.

macs are just as prone to client side malware as windows machines. common misconception. I think malwarebytes has a mac version. I know you hate safari but does the problem follow the browser?

Basic explanation of 400 Bad Request -The request cannot be fulfilled due to bad syntax.
Meaning- there are some broken code (in your machine) in the address that the browser is trying to locate.
Action- Clean your browser cache and cookies. Surf the web in Private Browser mode on your browser.
CCleaner is a free and pretty easy to run with little tech skill and should probably take care of this.
I would stay away from Google Chrome, they are notorious for data-collection. I use Firefox, with all privacy add-ons and I always surf the web in Privacy Mode. This has automatic settings to delete cache, browser history and other footprints.
Everyone's suggestions are pretty spot-on in trying to get you up and running. You just have to find the right fix for your particular problem.

I have issues with this site as well taking forever and a day to open a page when I click on it. Sometimes it takes so long it times out and I forgot what I wanted to look at in the first place. It's like there aren't enough servers? I'm not tech savvy but I think that's what I mean. I don't have this issue with any other sites I frequent from QVC to weather.com lol. Can this be remedied?

Hi Paven,
The slowness maybe in your computer. I run a lean, mean, PC machine and have never had this site open in a slow manner.
If you are on Internet Explorer, you may consider going to Firefox. If you have an older machine on a faster internet connection, you may need to upgrade your machine.
Some suggestions are (sorry if you already know these things, but others may not)- clean out cookies, clean out the cache, delete your browser history, etc.
Run CCleaner a couple of times. Then run it regularly.
Just a few thoughts.

Thank you JFrame2. I have done the cookie clearing and so forth. My computer is a bit older but I have Windows 7 not sure if that has anything to do with it. This is the only site I have issues with timing out on me and not opening up pages straight away. I will be purchasing a new computer in the upcoming months, maybe that will make a difference.

Paven, just letting you know, the edit button that stays for a while after you post, you click it, add text to your post and fill out the "reason for editing" blank (just put something basic like "corrected spelling" or "improved readability" or "added a fact" -- but something that's honestly describes the change(s) you made). It disappears after a while, but it lasts more than 10 minutes, and I noticed you posted your addendum, for lack of a better term, 2 minutes after your comment.

Paven, if your current machine handles Windows 7 and surfs other sites with no problem it still sounds like something in your machine.
You might consider taking it in for a tech clean out. Might be cheaper than buying a new machine.
Just trying to give you some options to work with.
