You will get different opinions for different guys depending on where they live
Five main areas:
Robinson / Airport - lots of hotel choices, best for guys in the South Hills
Greentree - Just pick the right hotel. Close to downtown Pittsburgh so most centrally located outside of the city
Downtown / North Shore / Southside - While centrally located, This can be a hassle for guys with traffic / parking
Cranberry - North of the city
Monroeville - East of the city
I almost never see anyone in Monroeville because I am in the South - but I am sure guys near Monroeville don't like to venture to Robinson / Airport
If you want to be centrally located - I would say your best choice is Greentree

Those spots above are pretty spot on. Greentree is a great spot.

Ah yes Port Isabel.
Just a bridge ride from there to SPI.
Back in the 70's there were hardly any motels, hotels, or condos and it was beautiful.
They screwed the po'folks when they developed that island.
To the OP, you are getting advice from some good people.
