Congress ready to take vote on TikTok ban but not on Ukraine funding.
Does anyone else find it just a little bit crazy that Congress is planning to take a vote on banning tik tok but can’t find it worthwhile to fund the Ukrainian people’s defense.

Or the Senate border bill. Just shows that it's all politics for the Republicans rather than governing.

Apparently TikTok started a call in campaign. They posted messages asking users to call the congressman on the energy and commerce committee to protest the bill banning TikTok resulting in a flood of calls from angry teenagers. The result, later that day the bill passed the committee on a 50 to 0 vote.

Apparently banning social media associated with the Chinese government is more popular than assisting Ukraine in defending itself.

Why is a border bill needed? All Biden has to do is un-reverse Trump’s border policy. Your guy ruined effective border control, on purpose, on day one. Man up and own it, or admit the mistake and go back to what works.

There’s no reason we can’t do both.

Trump’s border policy is illegal. That’s why we had all the lawsuits. To fix the issue we need new law. Why can’t congress man up and own it.

Sneaking into the country is already illegal, your attempt to deflect blame notwithstanding. All that needs to happen is for it to be enforced. Stop the illegal invasion its tracks and there’s no need to increase the bureaucracy, which is all that lame “immigration” bill was about. Well, that and sending more money into the Ukraine shitshow.

What i’m getting from your comments is that it’s ok to ignore the law at the border and to toss our allies in NATO to the curb.
Unfortunately for you our country runs on the rule of law. We have immigration laws already in place that we have to follow. The border patrol can’t simply throw people out of the country because they want to. A process must be followed before they can be deported. Anyone who tells you differently is lying to you.
An argument can be made to not fund Ukraine but the truth is that if the Ukraine bill came up to a vote it would pass. If Mike Johnson had any confidence that it would fail he would put it up for a vote. I don’t think it's wise to stand in the way of public opinion on this. The american people want to support Ukraine.

It’s not illegal to stop them from coming in, and Ukraine isn’t a nato county. You must’ve put your brain on backwards this morning.

Tik tik should just be banned. Anyone who thinks the company will cut the cord with China is nuts. America has its own social platforms and room for new ones based in murica.
All Ukraine funding should halt immediately. Zelensky is as bad as putin.

It may not be illegal to stop people from entering the country. It depends on how you do it that matters. It’s impossible to stop every one from entering the country. Just ask Governor Abbot in Texas. he’s spending billions trying to stop it, turning the border into an armed camp and the result is that the migrants are just going elsewhere. The border bill is still the most humane and effective way of limiting immigration to legal means.
As far as Ukraine is concerned you need to think it through. NATO wants Putin to lose the war in Ukraine. We support NATO’s goals when it comes to opposing Putin. Therefore we should support Ukraine’s fight against Putin’s regime.

We need to also pull out of nato . Ukraine is most excellent example.
Keep those Ukraine funds here for those " other" places on the border where illegals are coming in.

The most humane way would be a wall, claymores, mines, etc. Thousands of people die, are raped, sold into slavery, enter a contract that gets their families back home tortured. Sure, a few people may die trying to sneak in, but exponentially more would be saved by not trying in the first place.

That’s not what you said. Land disputes in Eastern Europe aren’t are problem, getting involved in them does nothing but deplete resources that could and should be used here at home.

Immigration reform is needed, much of which was addressed in the Senate bill. Congress's job is to pass laws. They should do their job. Setting policy by executive order is lazy governing by both sides. As we saw, all it takes is for the next president to come along and write out a new policy. When Congress does its job that doesn't happen. A bipartisan bill is the best we'll get. But on each occasion when it's been negotiated, republicans fuck up and make sure that we'll not get reform for another 8-12 years. Republicans will never get what the far right wants. And they are incapable of taking 70% as a win.
Republicans can govern.
