PROOF: Obama Lied About Benghazi

An independent panel found numerous problems with embassy security, including the issues of funding which they stated led to State Department making choices based on savings rather than security. That part belongs to the Republicans. However, the report did support the notion that Obama lied about the cause of the attack, as we all well knew:

The report appeared to break little new ground about the timeline of the Benghazi attack during which Libyan Ambassador Chris Stevens, information specialist Sean Smith and former Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods - who were contractors working for the CIA - were killed. Stevens' slaying was the first of a U.S. ambassador since 1988.

But it confirmed that contrary to initial accounts, there was no protest outside the consulate and said responsibility for the incident rested entirely with the terrorists who attacked the mission.

The report indicates that the Republicans are stupid, and that Obama is a liar. The rest of the article is here:

Okay, I read that report and I wonder where you came up with the attack on the GOP. I know you claim to be independent but there was not date on when the Congress denied funds and the GOP was not in control the first two years when Hillary was SOS. I would like to see a date mentioned. I would also point out that when budgets get reduced you have to start making decisions on what is important. You have to weigh security in Benghazi with hybrid cars for everyone in Germany. In this case the hybrid cars won over security and that came from the State Department.

As for what the military could have done we need to know where the mobile assets (navy and marine) were located when the attack started. I did participate in the evacuation of Mogadishu, Somalia in 1991. I know how fast we responded and how far we could reach to help the embassy. From reports there was a destroyer within striking range of Benghazi. If a cruise missile could have reached Benghazi I think an S-3, CH-46, or a CH-53 could have come to the aid of the embassy in a few hours. A destroyer does not carry marines but they do carry a self defense force of sailors. 20-30 armed sailors and an orbiting helo with a minigun would have made a great deal of difference. We don't have all the information yet.

It said the response by Diplomatic Security agents on the scene and CIA operatives at a nearby compound that later came under attack itself had been "timely and appropriate" and absolved the military from any blame. "There was simply not enough time for armed U.S. military assets to have made a difference," it said.
The report also discounted speculation that officials in Washington had refused appeals for additional help after the attack had begun.
"The Board found no evidence of any undue delays in decision making or denial of support from Washington or from the military combatant commanders," it said. To the contrary, the report said the evacuation of the dead and wounded 12 hours after the initial attack was due to "exceptional U.S. government coordination and military response" that helped save the lives of two seriously wounded Americans
