Default Congress considers changes to SS...hey SPEED open your eyes!!

With SS trust fund set to run out in 2035...increase in the depth of which the Gumment plans to stick their hands deeper into your pocket and screw you more never ends.

Increases followed by more increases to the money you pay into the Gumment...ain't SS a grand thing SPEED??
They are going to increase the life of a failed Gumment by putting it on a higher tax life support. Their quandary here is reduce benefits or increase taxes...say it ain't so SPEED.

This proposal includes more PRIVATE involvement and less GUMMENT involvement...how can this be, the Gumment not being the answer to all our prayers. They want to do this with no cuts in spending...won't happen!!

This will also includes talks on the great medicare program too SPEED!! Please tell us how can this be SPEED...you are going to have to get your head out the sand for this one and do some critical thinking.

Is that a requirement?

I pay enough attention to notice that trumpys seldom can supply a straight answer to a direct question.

Yes. Your made-up fantasy group is giving the vote to the cast of the "Lion King".

What the fuck is your problem? Can't handle the extra $120 per $10000 income? You're not paying off your SS taxes every year anyway. Why would it bother you if they raise SS taxable income to $400,000?

"The Secure Act
When the Secure Act sailed through the House of Representatives on May 23 by a 417-3 vote, it looked like it would be fast-tracked in the Senate.

Months later, progress on that side of Congress is still elusive.

The Secure Act would include a bevy of changes to existing retirement rules. Its main goal: to expand access to retirement savings."

"Social Security 2100 Act
In July, the House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on a new bill introduced by Rep. John Larson, D-Conn., called the Social Security 2100 Act.

Social Security’s trust funds are set to run out by 2035, at which point only 80% of promised benefits will be payable.

The Social Security 2100 Act looks to fix that by extending the solvency of the program into the next century.

It also includes other changes, notably increasing payroll taxes while avoiding benefit cuts entirely.

The proposal would give those who are or will be receiving benefits a raise that is the equivalent of 2% of the average benefit. It would also set the new minimum benefit at 25% above the poverty line.

The plan also would increase the amount of non-Social Security income one can earn before benefits begin to be taxed. The new limits would go to $50,000 for individuals and $100,000 for couples, up from today’s $25,000 and $32,000 thresholds.

In order to pay for those changes, the bill calls for raising payroll taxes on wages over $400,000. Wages up to $132,900 are currently taxed.
It also calls for increased payroll contributions from workers and employers. That rate would increase to 7.4% from 6.2% and would be gradually phased in from 2020 to 2043.

The failure you keep mentioning is only in meeting funding. That's mostly because of demographics.
Like most trumpys, you want to throw out major programs without replacements or a plan for dealing with the aftermath.
Or you're willing to hand out a huge tax decrease mostly for the upper 5% but whine about a 1.2 % SS tax increase over the course of 23 years

Increases followed by more increases to the money you pay into the Gumment That statement sure looks like critical thinking (hs). Does it make your head hurt to provide numbers for your "increases followed by increases"?...ain't SS a grand thing SPEED??

What private involvement? Do you mean the underfunded pension plans looking for a bailout?
The obvious answer is the SS tax will need to be increased...by 1.2 %. I included those numbers above.
You offer no solutions. No wait, your solution is to call on Speed to "solve" our problems. Critical thinking at it's best (hs).
Trump and the repubs offer no solutions. McConnell won't let bills be heard on the floor.

Pretty funny a trumpy talking about heads in the sand or blinders. Consistently.
Also pretty funny seeing a poor guy shill for rich folk.

MUNCHY you're full of....platitudes like all politicians.
When people like you and speed who worship the Gumment and think they are the end all to be all...you have a had time admitting that the ponzi scheme is going to become insolvent in 2035. I see you conveniently forgot to mention that...Hummmm.

"Social Security’s trust funds are set to run out by 2035, at which point only 80% of promised benefits will be payable."

You also forgot to mention that without MAJOR changes the benefits DECREASES and the amount paid in INCREASES.

"It also calls for increased payroll contributions from workers and employers. That rate would increase to 7.4% from 6.2% and would be gradually phased in from 2020 to 2043."

This is just a band aid on a hemorrhage.MUNCHY and speeds Gumment to the rescue.

"But the bill would have difficulty getting widespread Republican support, even though there is a related proposal on the Senate side. That is because it could be perceived as a bailout. “It’s a bailout without any reform,” Greszler said."(BINGO!!!)

The big thing you and speed have your heads in the sand about is...they are going to have to borrow MORE money to keep this ponzi scheme going.Just larger and more bloated Gummemt.

"The new bill would let (Gumment)pensions borrow money to remain solvent so that they can continue to pay retirees. The legislation would create a Pension Rehabilitation Administration within the Treasury Department and a trust fund from which the loans would be distributed."

Your nonsense is analogous to...the Titanic sank because they couldn't get the water out fast enough!!

Yeah MUNCHY and SPEED...ain't the Gumment grand!!

Since "Congress" wants to support the illegal aliens "Congress" won't keep out of the country then it will be NECESSARY for "Congress" to resupply the "trust fund" from which Congress has borrowed money for DECADES ... those IOU's "Congress" keeps sticking in the BOOKS to piss off more money are DUE and will KEEP COMING DUE .... AKA

"KICKING THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD"!!!!!!!!!! ALSO "FUNNY MONEY"!!!!!!!!!!

A major benefit in fuller employment and higher wages is that more money will be paid into the "TRUST FUND" between now and then ..... so .....

all those AntiTrump, Socialist, Hating Liberals are the ONLY ONES who would support raising the rates so they can support the JOBLESS when their NEW DEAL is installed once they IMPEACH TRUMP AND PENCE!!!!!!!!!

I previously speculated that one of two things would happen to Social Security: (1) Congress would take some action to make Social Security solvent beyond 2035. Or (2) Social Security payments could take up to a 20% decrease.

I, and my company, paid quite a bit into SS and I am now receiving a nice monthly payment, as are tens of millions of other people, as have 100s of millions of people since SS began. I hope to take out of SS more than I and my company put in.

Yes, SS is fantastic. As I said, 70% of Americans depend on SS for 90% of their income. Without it, where would they be?
