Default Whats wrong with this picture: pilot back from West Africa is screened with fever

http://www.live5news.com/story/27323...-ebola-at-musc

This miliary pilot has only been back for 15 days and he has flu like symptons. 15 days! We have been repeatedly told 21 days. The nurse in Maine is all about the 21 days, Obama is all about the 21 days, the head of the CDC is all about the 21 days. It has to be a mistake that someone can actually have symptons earlier than 21 days.

On a lighter note, the military has designated five bases in the US to house soldiers ungoing quarantine. Remember, these soldiers WILL NOT come in contact with Ebola patients.

Remember "those"* in the 60's and 70's?

Signs usually present between 8-12 days. After 21 days you are in the clear.

That isn't true. That is not what the science says.

True, after 21 days the likelihood of developing symptoms decreases dramatically, but at 30 days there is an eight in 1,000 chance of the host getting sick. A host really isn't "in the clear" until the 45th day.

You are an idiot.

21 days is the END point, not the START point.

The general rule is that Ebola shows up in LESS than 21 days after exposure. So it can show up in 5 days, let alone 15 days.

After that you are in the clear.

As someone noted, it may be that in rare cases, it may show up after 21 days.

But the general rule is 21 days.

This thread is a compelling argument for ebola to succeed. Fuckin' ponderous.

Misstating the facts and making yourself look like a fool is sarcasm how exactly?

Viruses, natures way of controlling the population.

I am not one to stick my head in the sand but I am certainly not chicken little either.

Flu has killed more people worldwide and yet there is no quarantine requirement for that. There are no travel restrictions either. Of course, the flu generally only takes down the weak, sickly, elderly and very young so it is more a thinning of the herd than indiscriminate like Ebola.

The real question should be, who does Obama need to pay off to the tune of 16 billion bucks.

Are you really that dense (I know that EVA is) that I have to explain the obvious? I guess I do. The government has been putting out this magic number of 21 days since the get go. They are good until they hit 21 days like the nurse in Maine. Or they are good if they get to 21 days and nothing has happened like the family exposed in Texas. That whole 21 days bullshit was a government invention. They try to ignore (because government believes in one size fits all) that Ebola can live for 30, 40, or 50 days on the right surface or that everyone is different in their resistance.

My other point is starting this thread which you have conveniently forgotten is that Obama promised that the military personnel would not come in contact with sick people. Apparently he has broken that promise already whether this pilot has ebola or not. The government thinks that he might and that means he had contact. Now go forth, extract your head from your ass and try to live on.
