Default Windows 7

I'm the proud owner of a new computer with Windows 7. On my old computer I was able to go into tools and hit the private view (or something like that) so that all info was erased when finished. Anyone have any idea where or how I do this with Windows 7? I'm not very computer literate and it won't be pretty if ECCIE pops up when not desired.

If using IE8, this link might be helpful:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...ivate-Browsing

If using IE9, this link should answer your questions:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/i...res/in-private

Here is a link to the results of a Google search for InPrivate Browser:

Be Careful & Enjoy!

I believe the private browsing is a feature of Internet Explorer, not Windows. You probably just need to upgrade the browser.

Get Google Chrome, you can download this browser for free. It has a 'incognito window' you can open and surf in stealth mode. Google Chrome is also a faster browser. IE does have a private session window you can open, but I've never gone back to using IE, too much baggage comes with it.

Funny that- after 3 years of using a Mac I am going back to Windows. I know that this is a religious debate I am opening. Truth is I loved working with my MBPro and in the few instances when I had a problem- I really loved NOT getting the "PC- two step" (that is a driver issue/ that is an os issue. you have to talk to the PC maker about the bios).

But alas, I now find that I am spending as much time on interconnectivity and process workarounds (for software NOT on the Mac) as I ever did on virus and malware stuff. No PC can touch the Mac for design and customer experience- but I am sad to say that Apple's closed and propietary approach limits what I can do with the MAC. So- as soon as my new notebook gets here, my MBP will go up on Ebay.

BTW- I have been using portable computers since the stone age. My first had a orange gas plasma screen, a 40 MB hard drive, 612k of memory and ran from dual floppy drives.

I wouldn't say that it's "Apple's closed and proprietary approach" (I don't see what's any more closed/proprietary about it than PC's running Windows), rather just the relatively fewer amount of software available on it (though there is still plenty available for it, more than most people need).

Hey guys, thanks so much for the tips. I got it working. If any of you are looking for a new computer, go online to CompUSA. I didn't know they were even online. My computer was $200 cheaper there than "Newegg," the new boy one the block, so to speak.

Thanks again
