Default Yes! We Can!

In the evening, I like to sit on my porch and ponder. It's a good exercise for the mind. Tonight I thought of the phrase "The soft tyranny of low expectations." I don't remember where I heard, but as I thought about it, it occurred to me that this phrase accurately describes the Obama administration.

Think about it. He ran in 2008 on the slogan "Yes, We Can!" But he has governed with the attitude, "No, You Can't."

No, you can't obtain quality health care, let the government give it to you.
No, you can't find a job, let the government support you.
No, you can't make more money, let the government assist you.
No, you can't run a profitable auto industry, let the government run it for you.
No, you can't determine for yourself what you should eat or drink, let the government decide for you.
No, you can't keep your airplanes safe, let the government screen for you.
No, you can't keep yourself free, let the government make decisions for you.
No, you can't make decisions concerning your safety, let the government arrest and detain those the government thinks may harm you.

The list can go on.

Is there one policy, just one, where the President has said, "Yes, you can make your own decision in this area without government assistance?"

Think of one? No, you can't.

That is the soft tyranny of low expectations.

Michael Gerson is credited with writing, "the soft bigotry of lowered expectations" for George W. Bush but I seem to recall Ronald Reagan saying "the soft bigotry of low expectations".

I still don't like to eat elephant and to be quite honest, it is the most stupid signature I've ever seen on this board or any other board.

To answer you COG, tell me, why is Obama ahead in the polls?

But guess what, I really don't care, I'll do fine either way.

If you work for a corp, you expect healthcare, dental, and eye care provided by the company.
If the company out sources your job who will provide for you till you find another?
Let all the car companys go tits up,drive a import. Then gloat about the jobless numbers.
We have some of the fattest asses in the world with preventable diseases driving up healthcare.Your insurance and the government are paying for them.
Go ahead and fly with no screening works for me.I don't fly.
I am free to disagree with you.

The final item on you're list should be: No you can't best decide how to live your own life. You need to let the government decide for you. The statists do not believe Adam Smith's invisible hand is the best way to manage an economy. The statists believe in a centralized command and control economy where everything is decided in Washington. The statists honestly believe that the people are better off surrendering their freedom. In the warped mind of the statists, tyranny is kindness.

Wave, Obama leads in the polls because almost 50% depend of the population receives government assistance of one sort or another, and Obama is campaigning to put even more people on the government dole. Dependent people are reliable voters.

And Ekim, you represent the biggest bullshit argument out there, that if something needs to be done, only government should do it. Yes, let's have government manage our every move. That's a sign of a free country. (That was sarcasm.)

Plus, the preponderance of the MSM are pro-Odumbo with nary a negative comment as the MSM only gives glowing accounts of Odumbo's each and every action. Hell, if Odumbo had been leading the 7th Calvary at the Little Big Horn, MSNBC, NBC, and ABC would be reporting how he was successfully collecting arrows and bullets; thus, disarming hostile Sioux and Cheyennes!

Now, Ekim. Remember, we have standards of civility here. Re-read your post, maybe you'll understand it.

StupidOldFart's "standards" are elementary. The elementary level was as far as he has been able to advance.

Why do you expect your job to give you healthcare? There is no law saying they have to do it. This is the result of the post World War II hunt for a labor force. One company offered healthcare and the rest had to follow.

Let's see. You guys don't want to find a better way to do anything. Maybe that's why you're in fucking Kansas and not getting any pussy.

No we can't ... Get laid.

Maybe that's why Kansaswent for Bachmann, Santorum or whomever.

Guys, you're gripping so hard that the space around your avatar is white.

What happens when you go to the grocery store? do you buy sliced bread or have you not accepted yet that it's the greatest thing since, er, .... Not breathing throug your mouth.

Your posts don't make any sense. Stop the glue sniffing while you still have a few brain cells left.
