Can you provide a couple of concrete examples of how Obama's administration has flown in the face of RULE OF LAW? (I assume you will use socialist trends to dispute the democracy - not that I agree, but I will acquiece).

My comment to dear Ansley; I simply don't believe that ANY American should die because they can't afford insurance and I'm really afraid that by the addition of Brown, that may contribute to that continuing....

I'm not going to get into the politics of it all, because I don't live in the US, so much of what I get is hearsay whether in favour or against.

However, I will say that in my home country, no one ever dies waiting in an emergency room, because the hospital would not serve an uninsured human being, whether a citizen, illegal or a tourist.

Whatever the conclusion comes to, I hope in the end people decide every human life is more valuable then political affiliation or financial gain.

I don't want to get into a full fledged debate on healthcare, or any other specific issue, here, but I do think tonight's win is a referendum on where the populace's confidence in our leaders is...low...much like it was in 11/08 when it elected the current leadership....

No one ought to go broke because they are sick. And no one should die from lack of good health care because they are poor. Unfortunately, that cause took a substantial setback tonight. But Democratic Party been fighting for the right for every American to have health care since 1935, and we'll we'll continue to fight for it despite what happened tonight.

My monthly insurance cost $854 per month in 2009 (I'm in a state pool with a $7,500 deductible). Last week I received the yearly notice on my increase. It will be $993 a month. I'm leaning towards reform. BTW, this is for me only no family friends etc (it ain't Verizon). Notice no smilies.

Now Sydney you and I have always agreed to not talk about politics. I swear I burned sage before leaving you the last time I was in Houston.

I'll be the first to admit that I need to learn more of the issues at hand. I do know that I would rather see more of a market driven health care system than so much government involved. Why is so much secrecy with the plan that they want to get passed. Yes I want to see affordable health care. God knows I need it to be affordable. Yes I do want some type of reform but I don't think I like what they are forcing on us.

How about retroactively changing the tax laws to focus on only IB CEO’s and traders because of income bonues from past contracts that are legally binding and valid? How about the nationalization of Government Motors? Or trying to make the lack of health care coverage illegal and open to jail time to those that don't carry it… at the hands of the IRS?

I know you are very intelligent but I don’t know your political views. Mine are conservative in nature but not party based as I am an independent. I can’t stand what is being done to this country by the current President and I think there is soon coming a reckoning that he and his party are going to have to have with te real power, the American public.

What is being promulgated by this idiot and his staff is outrageous, egregious and damn dangerous for him personally as well as the Office of The President of The United States. Only a fool thinks known groups who are terroristic supporters can be reasoned with. The only good way to reason with those kinds of people is to have them staring down a fully armed Phaser Bank.

The politics of this are what they are.... Republicans & Conservatives will spin the results as a referendum on & repudiation of the legislative agenda of Obama & the Democrats. Democrats & liberals will spin the results as the consequences of putting up a crap candidate in what they considered a "safe" district.

About the only thing you can say is that the Democrats may have mistakenly assumed the election results of 2006 & 2008 signified a move to the left by the country instead of simple dissatisfaction with the status quo. In fact, polling data has shown no statistically significant change in the percentage of the population that identifies themselves as liberal/moderate/conservative for the period of time in question.

The numbers are fairly stable... high 20th percentile identifies themselves as liberal. Low 30th percentile identifies as conservative. High 30th percentile identifies as moderate.

Being one of the "high 30th percentile"... lol.... I'm getting sick & tired of getting whiplash from each and every "significant conservative shift" or "significant liberal shift"

At least Obama went and got Congressional legislation before doing what you claim to be illegal. I suspect that you strongly supported President GWB and I would bet that you said didlly squat when it came out that he moved forward with his various intelligence gathering methods without even congressional approval or that waterboarding isn't torture or that he needed to be slapped down 3 times by the Supreme Court (not exactly a bastion of liberalism) w.r.t Guantanamo Bay's standing under US law? Now I could be wrong and that you loudly spoke up, if you did consider this an apology ahead of time.

Point is there is plenty of mud to be splattered all around if we want to go in this direction.
