When Will We Put The Blame Where It Really Belongs?
Every day we here reports of how criminal elements South of the Border are flooding our communities with products that are lethal. To abide by our Forum rules, we will just call these things “unmentionables”.
Why are they doing this. Are the Cartels simply trying to destroy America. Do the have a political agenda. Is there some cause that they believe in with so much conviction that they are willing to put thousands of lives in danger?
No. It’s all about money.
Which begs the question? Why is it so profitable?
Simple. Their clientele lives North of the Border. The only reason for their existence is to sell their product to millions of Americans.
If you keep feeding a stray cat, he will keep crapping in your flower beds. If Americans keep feeding the Criminal Cartels, they will continue to flourish.
So, where does the blame lie. Is it with the Americans who continually pump money into the Cartel’s accounts. Or is it the Cartels who gladly take it?
Every time you see on the news about some parent lamenting their off springs death because he bought what the Cartels sell, ask your self. Who was really to blame?

Buried deep in the 'Did You Know?' archives...
Did you there about 194 'recognized' countries on our planet and that illegal aliens from about 163 of those countries have been streaming across our Southern boarder these past 2 years?
IMHO: The coyotes are mostly akin to Amazon Delivery drivers (herders) for profit. The cartels own the coyotes and likely are akin to the 'Big Guy' and get a cut, plus delivery services for their products. Frankly, not much different than our own DOJ and Federal governement these days.

one of mexico's top law officials and advisor to a mexican president
is in trial concerning the acceptance of tens of millions of dollars in bribes from a cartel in exchange for information concerning enforcement plans of both mexican and american law enforcement
interesting testimony about this guy's meetings with eric holder, brennan et al and the information they provided

I did not mention undocumented workers. That is another topic for another discussion.
I agree. Decriminalization is a logical choice. Treat drugs just like booze.

Agreed....let the individual make the choice of what is good or bad for them, not the government.
I feel the same about early term abortion.

Decriminalizing drugs would be fought by the Christian Right (they don’t believe in individual choice) and the private prisons lobby. Hence, the republicans can never agree to allow that. Too much money would be lost.

Simple math formula question from the back row
If there is NO Demand, would there be A Supply?

A simple broad blanket statement.
That is the end result.
Hard part is getting there.
What i'd add to Roys post would to be invest in the countries that the most illegals come from. Small funds there to improve life and such pay big dividends in the long run. We've meddled in alot of countries south of the border. Give us a chance to correct things we've screwed up.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States of Anywhere in Particular

You mean like why is there a Demand? I'm guessing it is a natural selection between Fight or Flight, where some choose to Escape (Flight) from reality for a time versus being less willing to walk the harder path. Dang sure glad our Founding Fathers didn't think like that.

Reparations are far too messy. Besides, we would have to change the name of our country to The United States of Anywhere in Particular - Which BTW, as you noted, is exactly how we may have gotten into the mess in the First place and exactly how we stay mired in the quagmire. But history being what it is, i.e. Fact - should any country or Empire that engaged in their own Colonialization already be pursuing that same path?
But there is a WIN/WIN where we can utilize pharmacology, science and will power:
