BJs at $15 is a great value
So BJs recently opened in the north kills and in Bridgeville. Yearly membership costs 55$ and they currently have a promo where you get 40$ to your account after joining. The price is a little more than Sam's, but the prices of things they have in store seem to be slightly lower. Also, they give you a coupon book with from what I see, one free bakery item and a coupon book with like 100$ in coupons over a few months.
Ironically enough, I joined just as my Sam's membership is expiring, so savings all around

... Blimey! ... surely thought YOU were doing a advert as
a sex providour! ... I was gonna warn ya you're in
the wrong forum... Forget I posted...
But WAIT - how's the selection there compare to Sam's club?
And is the Bridgeville one BIG - or just a small shoppe?
Don't wanna drive-over that way for nothing.

I don't care about buying food in balk because I don't care about living in an Alex Jones Doom Bunker.
I have a Sams Club membership, but that is for non-food products I can trade for favors.

Hehe I knew what I was doing!
I've only been to the one on McKnight. It seems to be just as big, if not bigger, than Sam's. As for the selection, they seem to have the same things, but I feel their meat dept has more variety.
I don't buy bulk and disaster prep, but buying dry goods and some frozen stuff a few times a month is good.
One thing I noticed is that the eggs they sell are only in big cartons of 36 or something. Sams sells 18 pack, which is enough for me, for more than that is too much. But it's no sweat to go to Aldis to fill in the blanks in shopping

The Bridgeville one is pretty big. But not as big as Costco. I got an even better deal last Black Friday. Paid $45 and got $60 in $ added to my account. So they in essence paid me $15 to join
While they have similar items to other warehouse clubs, there are differences. BJs has a deli. And you can buy produce / meat in smaller quantities than you can at Costco or Sams - at lower costs than most super markets

Forgot about the deli. That sets it apart from Sam's.

The point of Sams and the rest isn't just bulk product, its bulk pricing.
I go where I can get the best price, that's the entire point of going there, not being in an Alex Jones bunker world.
But, if you are in an unexpected situation and you can't survive for more than a day without a grocery store, that too is stupid.
Like city people who live hand to mouth and are starving the day after they run out of food stamps, or because the local convenience stores got burned and looted the night before.

I don't recall them ever checking membership cards when you go in - only when you check out. So you should be good

I go where I can get the best prices too. When I did my shopping this week, I went to BJs, Big Lots, SnipnSave, and the following day, Aldis (because they were closed on Sunday, duh..)
However more often than not, the bulk stores do end up having better prices on a lot of things. Sure, you buy more of it, but at the end of the day it is cheaper. Frozen snacks, paper products, frozen meat, sometimes fresh meat.

Sam's religiously checks your cards. It is kind of a pain... because you can't check out without your card... BJ's didn't check it for me.

I posted this before. BJs is a lower rent Sam’s. And far below the quality at Costcos. But the gas is cheap and Bridgeville is closer to me than the other box stores. I’m still a member at Costco because their meats are superior to Sam’s or BJs. BJs does have a small selection of beer and wines.
