I've been reading up about TJ and wanting to make a trip to see some friends in SD. Probably won't be Independence Day weekend though.

I do have some questions though, if you don't mind. How much should one expect to bring for a reasonably good time for one day? Can you really just walk into any pharmacy and ask for viagra without a prescription? Do you just pay for everything in dollars? Or should you convert some to pesos? Any days of the week/times of day to avoid for crowding? I don't like crowds. And any inexpensive hotel kinda near the action, that you'd recommend in case I decide to spend a night?

I am going for the first time on Monday. I've done a bunch of research and will answer your questions as best I can. First to avoid crowds don't go on Friday or Saturday. You can pay in either dollars or pesos but a lot of the guys say you get a better deal with pesos. I'm staying at Cascadas right above Hong Kong with the 80% discount on Mon and Tue nights. As for the viagra I am not sure but you might have to give 5 or 10 dollars to the on site "doctor" to get a scrip, before you can get any.

That's a huge question, and it depends on you. if you just want to pop a few times and go, you can pick up street girls for about $20 for a quick 20-minute shag in a $5 hotel. They are clean and some are as pretty as any bar girl, but without any Spanish you will struggle to get more than basic service.

Bar girls are going to be $60-80 (plus $10-20 for the room) for 30 minutes. If you are staying in that hotel, you can knock off the room charge.

Escorts (to your hotel room) are going to be $80-100 for an hour. Independents a bit less, but hard to arrange without Spanish.

Then there are the incidentals if you want to do more than fuck. You can spend a lot buying drinks for girls, but the rewards are plenty. An $8 drink will get you 15-20 minutes of her company in the club, during which time you can rub all over her and she'll dance and grind on you -- all in an attempt to persuade you to go to the room. Then there are all the $1 tips to the waiters and the ladies. If you are the kind of guy who enjoys strip clubs, you could spend a lot of money in there if you chose to.

I plan on $300 per full day, for two sessions and plenty of time tipping ladies in the club. A four day trip with travel, hotel, and everything will be about $1500.

Or you could roll into town in the afternoon, fuck a street girl ($25), have a few tacos, shop a bit, get a couple of drinks and dances in Hong Kong ($25) and take a girl up to the room ($100), and be back in San Diego before dark. With transportation, that's $160.

Yep, and Levitra and Cialis and many other drugs that are expensive or restricted here. No prescription needed.

Dollars are accepted almost everywhere, but you should exchange some for pesos for little things. Some stores will give you a bad exchange rate if you pay with dollars. The bars and hotels give you pretty much the same rate as a bank.

Sometimes it is advantageous to use pesos, and sometimes dollars, but unless you are really good with math and track the rates as they change you are more likely to screw yourself than save money by using pesos.

Fridays and Saturdays are big crowds, so I avoid those. if I have to be there on a weekend, I'll avoid Hong Kong and stick with escorts or the smaller clubs like bar Tropical or Chicago Club. Thursdays and Sundays are busy but not terrible. Those are like a good fun party night. Mondays and Tuesdays are slow, and you can take your time with the girls. They have fewer options and will work to make you pick them (and are more likely to take $60 vs $80).

If you want to go to the clubs and take girls up to a room a few times, you can't beat Hotel Cascadas. It is right above Hong Kong and the girls there can go up to your room, so you'll save $20 on a room fee each time. Girls from most other clubs can't go there, so you'll have to pay for a room if you go to Adelita's or Chicago, but if you go to Hong Kong and take three girls, the room pays for itself, plus you get more time with the girl and you have all of your stuff (condoms, lube, change of clothes, shower).

Cascadas can be loud and crazy, and the rooms aren't the most comfortable, so if you value quiet time and sleep, you could get a nearby hotel and just pay for short time rooms at whichever club you like. A separate hotel is nice for if you want to get an escort, since most of them won't go into the nightclub hotels.

Expect to pay $50-$100 for a hotel room (less if you want really cheap), close to the action but far enough away to be respectable and quiet. I like the Ticuan or the Pueblo Amigo, but there are dozens of choices.

I just left San Diego but did not go to Tijuana. One of my Uber drivers said the girls at the bars are hot as models and even the street walkers are just as good looking. He said you can have a very good time with a girl for about $20 give or take.

You can use American $$ but you’ll probably get a better deal just using the pesos unless you’re good at converting. If you pay in dollars you might get pesos back but you could get ripped off. Don’t flash any money you have. Hide it on your body well.

Depending on what to take depends on what you want to do. How much you want to eat, drink, how much you want to tip. I would say for a really good evening, have at least $200-$250 in smaller bills. You could probably get by with $100 but that might be tight.

The street girls stand in a consistent place every day and have to have a health card (not streetwalkers, who move to avoid police and health inspectors). Their rates vary wildly depending on how much they can get out of you, but you can find sex or a BJ for 200 pesos ($12) plus the room ($6). Of course, if you are an obvious gringo and ask about dollars the price is $20, and then there are the upcharges for sex+BJ, for taking clothes off, for multiple positions, and all that. Seeing a girl multiple times will get you better deals, as will speaking Spanish.

KCQuestor - you're awesome. So much I didn't know (like street girls carry a health card). Looks like i could have one heck of a trip with multiple pops for less than it would cost to visit an AMP. Will have to start planning a trip soon.

One more question. Do you just wear a backpack with all your stuff? Or do backpacks cause more trouble when walking back across the border? And if I wanted to bring back some viagra with me, do I just stuff it in the bottom of a pocket/backpack or declare it. Someone somewhere on the forum said he just declared a bottle with 3 pills in it and the border guard didn't even bat an eye.

A backpack would be fine. I can't see any reason why it would be trouble.

I wouldn't declare anything you don't have a prescription for. If you are buying with a prescription because it is cheaper, then no issues. Otherwise just put it in your bag somewhere; don't try to hide it. I take it out of the box to save space. Then I put the blister packs in with all of my prescriptions and vitamins -- it's just another pill. They probably don't care unless you are bringing back hundreds of pills.

I didn't get a prescription for Viagra, I got it at a pharmacy, pretty much over the counter.

I did bring it back in my carry on bag with no issues.

I can verify most of what was mentioned earlier. I've made 2 trips and had a great time seeing multiple girls. I'll stick to the girls in the clubs, particularly HK as I've found the selection there more to my liking.

Traxter, you asked about a backpack. Hong Kong does search each guy before they enter, so not sure about the backpack. The friend I've traveled with takes a backpack, but we stay in a hotel and he doesn't carry it into the clubs.

Meds, just go to any of the pharmacias and ask for it. I purchase the 100mg of generic sildenafil/Viagra for $16 US for 10 pills. Cut in have, since 50 mg is sufficient for me and get 20 doses for that rate. I don't declare it at the border. I don't attempt to hide it either, as I've yet to see the border officials searching anyone.

I'm planning on going in mid September 11-15, not certain on exact date yet. Any one else interested in going and hanging out some, would be fun.

I just got back from a TJ trip this weekend, spent Friday and Saturday night in Hong Kong. I'm not a heavy drinker, but I like to buy the girls drinks before I take them up just to be sure they're at least somewhat friendly, haha. I usually do two girls each night and my average is $400 each night for everything (gotta tip everyone man).

You can't take a backpack in but they have a guy that will hold anything like that for a small tip (though I wouldn't leave anything too expensive in there).

I really like Hong Kong for the party atmosphere, I usually go with friends (and the more the merrier). So I'd be down to meet up with anyone down there, just PM me (I probably won't be ready for another trip until September or October either).

What's the difference between a street girl and a street walker? What do the health cards signify? Clean of all std's I'm assuming or just clean of hiv?
