Rejecting President Obama

Those of you who know anything about me know I love a good debate. I love intelligent conversation about politics and the issues facing the nation. Today I am drawing a line in the sand that shouldn't even be necessary. If you insist on questioning the legitimacy of President Obama I will no longer respond to you. Enough is enough. Go away, you have no place in the national conversation.

This includes referring to him as follows: "Your President," "The Democrats' President" or using the conservatives' weird illiterate slur calling him the "Democrat Party President" and any other attempt to say he’s not legitimately our president. Let me give a special shoutout to the “president” that I‘ve been getting a lot on Facebook and Twitter. That one has to stop for a variety of reasons. I understand that conservatives hate science and math, but do they also oppose grammar?

Get over it conservatives. He was elected by a majority of the popular vote twice. The last president to accomplish that was Ronald Reagan and he did that even after he raised taxes twice in his first term. For the record, Obama has never raised taxes on anyone. President Obama won nine of 10 competitive contests. His party picked up seats in the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. He won, he’s the president. If you want to argue with me about Obamacare, Benghazi, or sequester, then have at it. But save your quotes for appropriate purposes. “I’ve had it!”

Look, I know you’re upset that the 2010 election of conservative governors in swing states didn’t help keep Obama voters from the polls in 2012. I’m sure you thought long lines would deter lazy liberals. I know you had your heart set on Donald Trump’s October surprise. I bet you thought the tea party was an enduring movement and that voter ID laws would scare Latinos and students. It turns out the only state that worked in was Texas, and Texas wasn’t in play this year. It will be in 2016, I hope you enjoy fighting for that one; it’s blue by 2020 unless you make drastic changes to your platform.

So here’s my advice to my many conservative friends, family and followers: get over it. Acceptance is the final stage of grief and its time you come to terms with the election of our president and the end of your party as a national force. The sooner you do that, the quicker you can rebuild. America needs at least two parties having a legitimate debate on the issues. The ridiculous demonization of the president’s legitimacy hurts everyone. Please stop.

Thanks for posting that, BigTex, that is well said.

The country is much better off with President Obama at the helm than it would have been with Mitt, but some people are willfully blind to the facts.

. . . I doubt any argument no matter how persuasive would have swayed John Boothe regarding his opinion of President Lincoln.

Liberals need to recognize that a 2-3 % difference in the popular vote with some 8 mil. fewer votes for Obama this election is not a ringing endorsement by any stretch. Especially in light of such weak opposition.

More leftist horse shit. Yes, he was elected, it's done. However, for all practical purposes the voters opted for the status quo, which is an electorate evenly split, more conservative governors and the House and Senate statistically unchanged. Bottom line....more gridlock. This was by no means a mandate to just roll over and do whatever Obama wants, and it's not going to happen. Accept it libs, or as you would say, just get over it. The next 4 years are going to look a lot like the last 4 years.

It will be very interesting to see how the nation handles the inevitable tax increases that are coming very soon and what it will do to the economy.

I am still wondering what has happened to all the cash we have saved from stopping the war in Iraq.
My understanding was that the money saved from that wqar alone would cut the deficit AND fund all of his special programs.

I am wondering when we will have a budget that will cut the spending and be less than the continuing resolution that we have lived under for the past 4 years.
Where are all of the cuts we were promised?:
Why has the cost of my health insurance gone up when I was promised it would be less.
Why have the costs at my healthcare providers gone up.

Why is the federal government providing money to build light rail in Houston that does not benefit anyone any place else and really does not benefit anyone here.

Why does all of my tax dollars going to green companies end up being squandered with no beneficial results.

Why cant the VA process claims in a timely manner and take care of our veterans even with the addition of thousands of employees.

Why does it take the FDA almost two years and until people die before doing something about a pharmacy spreading meningitis.

Why are we allowing another government agency, the TSA, to become the SS of the federal government.

Why are we allowing the government to pass laws that are in direct violation of our constitutional rights. Why hasn't the opposition by the left to the patriot act done away with it.

Dear Republicans,

Stay out of women's reproductive systems and sexuality in general. Stem cells aren't people, but they sure can help people. Also, I don't trust banks.

Dear Democrats,

Stop using my paycheck to let other people stay home and play Wii all day. Seriously. There are lots of people that really need help and they don't get it(but they work like crazy to make it to the next day). There are lots of people scamming the system and sadly the problem is so big as to be unmanageable.

The only thing I can say about another Democratic prez is that it should, in theory keep the Supreme Court balanced. As to your faith in the Supreme Court, ymmv.

As far as ObamaCare goes: Reform of the Healthcare system is necessary and you have to start somewhere. It may or may not be the best starting point but it's better than no starting point. I would like market based healthcare, but you would need to make it mandatory for all healthcare providers as well as pharma and med. device companies to disclose their pricing structures up from so people could in-fact shop for healthcare that is affordable plus make providers compete for your $$$(sound familiar?). There are so many impossibilities of this, especially in small markets (monopolies) where a very small group of people control everything. I have been navigating the healthcare system(for the wife) for 10+ years and there is no limit to the financial sodomy that can be handed out.

I assume you are speaking as a poster in the thread and not as a Mod. With that thought in mind, I will respond in the following manner:

If I am not mistaken, your point was the exact same point made by Christopher Hahn in post #1 of this thread. Indeed, the country is facing serious issues. No one disputes that! Yet there are those among us who are still questioning the legitimacy of the November 6th re-election of President Obama.

C C, let me once again refer you to the summary in the final paragraph of the referenced article from post #1 of this thread.
