Times are Hard
TIMES ARE HARD
Such a gracious lady to send her note of appreciation to all of us who are making her life more meaningful....
THANK YOU AMERICA !

Dear American Taxpayer
I want to thank the hard working American people for paying $242 thousand dollars for my vacation in Spain .
My daughter Sasha, several long-time family friends, my personal staff and various guests had a wonderful time. Honestly, you just haven't lived until you have stayed in a $2,500.00 per night private 3-story villa at a 5-Star luxury hotel.
Thank you also for the use of Air Force Two and the 70 Secret Service personnel who tagged along to be sure we were safe and cared for at all times. By the way, if you happen to be visiting the Costa del Sol, I highly recommend the Buenaventura Plaza restaurant in Marbella ; great lobster with rice and oysters!
Air Force Two (which costs $11,351 per hour to operate according to Government Accounting Office reports) only used 47,500 gallons of jet fuel for this trip and carbon emissions were a mere 1,031 tons of CO2. These are only rough estimates, but they are close. That's quite a carbon footprint as my good friend Al Gore would say, so we must ask the American citizens to drive smaller, more fuel efficient cars and drive less too, so we can lessen our combined carbon footprint.
I know times are hard and millions of you are struggling to put food on the table and trying to make ends meet. So I do appreciate your sacrifices and do hope you find work soon.
I was really exhausted after Barack took our family on a luxury vacation in Maine a few weeks ago. I just had to get away for a few days.
Cordially,
Michelle Obama
P.S. Thank you as well for the $2 BILLION dollar trip to India !
P.S. Oh, I almost forgot to thank you all for our "date weekend" in New York and to say thanks also for our two-week trip to Hawaii at Christmas. That 7,000 square foot house was great!
And finally, thanks for asking, we had a great time taking Air Force One to Chicago to tape our segment with Oprah a couple weeks ago, complete with full security, a separate plane for armored limousines and a full contingent of assistants.
Remember we all have to share the pain of these economic times equally! Love to-redistribute-share-the wealth.

I bet you got that email from the same person who emailed you to tell you that you're paying 75% of your income in taxes.

Whatever the combination of income taxes + self employment taxes + sales taxes + Real Estate taxes + fees imposed for auto registations, taxes on phone services, garbage pick, gasoline taxes and so forth, adds up to is certainly more than it should be. Estimates are based on total taxes paid on everything, not just income taxes. Regardless of the percentage, it is too high. As to the email posted above. My uncle in Oklahoma sent it. I am sure Mrs. Obama did not actually write it, but the message seems to be germane. I see you are in NY. What kind of taxes to you pay up there when you add EVERYTHING UP? I understand local taxes in NY are kind of high. I seem to recall most of the items mentioned actually did happen while "they" are trying to make the rest of us cut back and/or raise taxes.

Lol, Jdriller.
Why is your beef with people poorer than you? Most people don't have businesses. They don't write tax laws. Hell, most of them have NO CLUE how to milk the system. If they did, do you think they'd spend most or all of their lives being po' and broke? The money people get for welfare is a joke, and is only enough to keep them dirt poor. Your problem....YOURS..should be with the grossly rich who know every tax law (or pays some assgape accountant to know them). They hide their money so it doesn't trickle down, they pay off politicians and other officials to make bullshit laws that let them keep their money, and they send jobs overseas to keep from paying Americans. The guy on the block trying to get a 2 dollar raise isn't trying to destroy your business. He's trying to feed his family. He's trying to pay his electricity AND water bill at the same time.
I wish I could convince every poor, struggling American to just say, 'Fuck no! Enough of this shit!' and stop feeding the pigs that's running this country straight to hell. A whole nation on the same sheet of music would change a lot of shit.

"Nope. Where do you see one of those?"

Why would anyone think I have a beef against people who are poor? I have a beef against unfair taxes. I have a beef againt GE making 100's of millions of dollars and not paying taxes like everyone else. I have a beef against a system that does not encourgage people to make it on their own by punishing "poor" people who get a job or a raise and then immediately cutting their benefits by as much or more than the amount of the increase in their income so they can't get ahead. I have been poor and I did not much care for it.

Let me quote you directly:
"I had a dream once. If I work hard, and smart, get an education I could make a lot of money and live the good life. Little did I know that my taxes would be 35% or so for income tax, almost 13% more for self employment tax, plus probably 25% more for real estate taxes on my properties and home. Add it up, that’s about 75% of my income that goes to the tax man. "
Nothing there about sales taxes, registration fees, gas taxes, utility taxes, or anything else outside of income/property taxes. Yet you still came up with 75%. So you made up your post about what you pay in taxes, and you made up your defense of your post about what you pay in taxes.

And then you post a chain email you received with blatant false-hoods (a $2B trip to India???? I mean, really!).
I've now got $100 that says you don't employ 15 people like you claimed, either.

Creed
Here is my gripe.
While I am not "rich", I do ok. I am in that group of Americans who make between $200,000 and $500,000 a years.
I own a business, which I helped build. I work 10 hrs a day, 6 days a week. I am 64 years old, and I have worked this way my entire life.
I pay about 38 percent of my weekly check to the Federal Government. Yes, I pay more in personal Federal Withholding than 90 pecent of Americans make.
I employ 12 men, they are able to feed their famillies because of my efforts.
The President thinks I am rich, and should be willing to give even more.
Suppose me, and multitudes like me, simply say 'screw it', take what we have, close the business, lay off the men, and go to the beach.
Can you see why I have my doubts about President Obama and what I precieve to be his socialist agenda.

If you're willing to give up your hundreds of thousands of dollars in income to save yourself $6000 or $9000, have at it.

DOOVES sooo angry that someone would actually question an out of touch Michelle Obama, that couldnt give a FUCK about him, hell spend days analyzing quotes of an ordinary working man.now thats just creepy..Driller the 75% figure in totality is probably low, but even if you had it off by half that figure it would still be too high.I get it, your out there spending alot of time trying to make a living, so sometimes you may not be 100% correct in exact figures and your making a relevant point even if its only coming from your gut.Only a douche with waaaayyy too much time on his hands would hold you to that to denegrade you and your efforts, just because..OOhhh PPPPOOOORRRRR MICHELLE OO BUM BUM!!

Driller, thank you for putting your ass on the line to try and work for yourself, regardless of how many employees, it doesnt fucking matter.Your efforts support many. Thanks for being responsible with your money and realizing that if you dont piss it away, it can start working for you and you dont become a burden for others. Thanks for giving people a place to live and taking on sure lawsuits, not a matter of if, but when. Thanks for planning ahead for your retirement and congrats for holding on to your money and investing it into something you can control instead of giving it to some thief that will plunder it...thanks..fuck the covetous ghouls, doesnt matter if you were taxed at 100%, it wouldnt be enough because its more about the fact that your living relativly FREE and worse, HAPPY. they just cant stand that, its just that insane.

Interesting, Jackie S.
I make $40-50K a year. Because I'm single, I get assraped, paying about $6-7K a year in taxes, for schools my invisible kids go to and roads that are always under construction (fucking ALWAYS.....SHIT!). The continuous construction and multiple school zones make my commute to my job that much longer, which needlessly burns more fuel in my car, that also gets chipped up from the loose gravel being flung around, not to mention the shitty potholes that do my tires no favors.
It's so much fun comparing my pay stubs to married people and watch them PAY LESS taxes per paycheck, yet find a way to get refunded THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS every year in April. Me, if I'm lucky, I get enough back to allow me to hobby 2-3 extra times that year, or something actually useful like car repairs.
It's all cyclic BULLSHIT, and it frustrates the fuck out of me, to no end. The way I see it, I am NO BURDEN TO SOCIETY. All of the things that take care of me does so because I am employed. I don't paying taxes. I DO have a problem paying more taxes than other fuckers who get bigger refunds than I do. To me, that's just rerouting MY MONEY to other people. That's the way I interpret it, and to hear a mofo [attempt to] justify it puts me at a high level of pisstivity.
I can't directly relate to your situation because I don't own a business, but when I hear shitbags like GE making billions of dollars yet weasels out of paying taxes, it makes me so full of rage I could melt the planet with it. All that said, it's not the people who have no power. It's these fucks who let hellbound mofos like GE get away with the shit. It just amazes me how little moral fiber the powers that be have.

I voted for McCain. But I hear his wife likes the finer things in life also. So if it wasn't Michelle, it would have been Mrs. McCain. Did you know that Jacki Kennedy spent millions of dollars redecorating the white house back in the day?
