Default La Marseillaise.......Heck, I never knew the lyrics

Geeze, these are some serious lyrics.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laWIjgWDesE

I have heard that song countless times, and never actually knew the words. Honestly, how many of you, who do not speak French, ever wondered what the lyrics were?

+1

It is a powerful song. This excerpt from Casablanca, filmed in 1943, gives testimony to just how powerful it can be.

I first read the lyrics years ago and had the same reaction.

But given the epoch (1790s) and the violent revolution sweeping France and the continent, it isn't surprising.

People were much less politically correct back then and didn't pull punches in their choice of words regard people that regarded as either traitors or foreign invaders.

Aren't they the folks whose ARMY issues sunscreen to their recruits and instructs them on how to apply it to their armpits ? And who were the originators of " bounce testing " their rifles in the face of an enemy attack ? Their DGSE is pretty good, along with their Foreign Legion, when it comes to taking it to their enemies though. They've been known to " train " some of their Algerian muzzie trouble makers in " chuteless " parachuting techniques ! None of the muzzies has stepped forward for the jump wings though !

They didn't lose in WWI. And the US didn't "win" WWI.

The French fought the Germans to a standstill. As did the British in their part of the line. The battlefield was pretty static and both sides bled themselves dry.

When the US joined late in the war, that was the straw that broke the Germans back. We were spared the enormous casualties the French, Germans, and Brits took.

No excuse for WWII, but it was not the average French soldier that was responsible for that debacle. It was poor planning and wishful thinking on the part of the political class that caused them to lose to the Nazis.

And the same could be said for the British. They were saved by the English Channel. Otherwise the blitzkrieg would have rolled over them, too.

And try to remember, the French - with all of the major European powers united against them - managed to march all the way to Moscow.

It is a lazy cliche that the French can't fight. They were a world power for centuries.

the Dalia is not wrong here. While the frenchies have their fries lol they are also the Vichy French. thus the phrase the "French are the whores of the world"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scuttl...leet_in_Toulon

this is what the British mean by "stiff upper lip" and "how to fuck the French yet again"

lol

You are correct. That is why I advocate letting them fight the terrorists themselves. The attack was in Paris, which is not American soil and therefore not our problem. When they attack us, then we should blast them to hell, if we can do it.

Well said. It's easy to throw out tired cliches, a little more difficult to actually apply some critical thought to the situation, but then republitards are all about tired cliches.
