I really thought it was a excellent look at escorting. On the technical side, it was very well shot.

I watched it last night but wanted to wait for awhile and let it sink in before posting. What sticks in my mind is this:

Farrah starts out escorting out of sheer desperation, but she later states (~ 4:30) that she's now too lazy to go to school and get a better job.

I agree. I think it is easy to get caught up in the illusion of the hobby, which is what I meant by reality check.

Agree that it is a reality check. I think the illusion is on both sides of why they get in as providers and how long they believe they will stay in it. Same for us hobbyist also.

I totally agree. I get it. I see it in my friends who bartend through college, then after they graduate they don't ever get a "real" job because they're essentially addicted to the quick cash and can't live on an entry level salary.

As honest as she can be. She talks like a rape survivor and essentially that is what she is. When she talks about her real self and her escort identity as two different people is the red flag here along with the disconnect during sex.She did this out of sheer desperation just to survive in NYC.

Another are of reality check comes in when she talks about wanting the Mercedes and a house and is saving for it, but wants to quit escorting. She can't raise her standard of living without escorting to pay for the recurring costs that come with homes and cars. To think she can pay for that lifestyle without education, the job experience, or a rich husband, and not escort is a pipe dream. A different form of reality check.

Having been that bartender guy long time ago, yes, its easy to making 2K a month, cash, while going to school and neglect studies. But I woke up soon enough to move on and get to pursue what I really like, instead of easy money.

Onto hobby world, its one of the reason, I have wanted to quit, knowing what IOP is about. I have pretty much quit for now, but we'll see how long I will sustain that.

But its the same reality check for the girls. If you truly are serious about quitting, then get a real job, if not you will never quit.

I do know few girls in here, who do have a real job, and do this for fun, and yeah, make some extra cash as an incentive. But that is very rare, and those girls rarely advertise.

Did you happen to read the comments? One commentator makes mention that she seems truly empty inside...but the filmmaker is quick to claim that is not true.

I think what's really going on is the "Farrah" is very empty and disconnected while her real life alter ego seems to function normally.

Did you also catch that she sees about 20 men a month, but sometimes as many as 7 in a single day? So do you think she just works a few days then just hangs out with her friends the rest of the time? That in itself could make someone rather vapid, in my opinion.

It is stories like this that make me question being in the hobby. It is bad enough to have to work at a job you don't like but to dislike working at one this intimate is sad. I feel for the girl. I totally agree...she has been lazy since the beginning. She could have worked and saved money, then moved and gotten a job at a bar and shared a studio with two other people like everyone else does.
