Discovering your daughter is a provider or stripper or whatever cannot be dealt with with hard and fast rules. Mandy is having a real issue with her parents. Both the daughter and parents need to be open minded enough to engage in a dialogue about the profession of providing in order to workout a satisfactory solution. There are all forms of providing and lots of aspects involved. No solution will work unless professional counseling is involved in my opinion. Emotions get in the way as you can read in these posts. Objective thinking is needed. Mandy, you should invite your parents to a counseling session with a professional counselor who is not judgmental(many are unfortunately).

Ive tried to be open and explain to them its not what they think but they r hard headed ppl and its gotten to the point where i havent talked to them in months. Ive accepted their decision and moved on. Ive gotten use to being on my own so it doesnt bother me any more

Mandy, it sounds like it is bothering you. If you have any contact with them, just offer to meet them one time with a professional counselor. Parents can be very stubborn and cut off ties with children for all sorts of irrational reasons. I personally think any reason to cut off ties with kids is irrational. It sounds like you say they are bright. If they think there is hope of changing your profession, they might meet. You just need a counselor that can "mediate" and not make decisions for either party.

People who don't think they are wrong usually don't care to meet with a counselor.....

Her parents don't think they are in the wrong......

In my professional experience, people will often meet with a counselor or mediator if they think they can convince the counselor and the other party of that fact that they are right. I admit, it is usually difficult to get them to the table if they feel their views will not prevail. You just need to tell the other party that you are open about listening and changing and you would be surprised how many will show. They might jump up and leave in the middle sensing an ambush but it is worth a shot.
