Weber kettles/smokers produce the same quality cooks as whatever stick burner you use. Or commercial smoker. Harry Soo proved as much. I gave my Treager to my son in law. I have a Pit Boss now. Thicker steel, much better build quality and they’re less expensive. But pellet grills produce a milder smoke flavor than charcoal/ lump or pure wood cookers. But Reed, Rhyles and Meat Church use them. Mainly because they’re paid to use them. It really depends on what people prefer. Your tastes are your tastes. They’re not superior or pure.

You're focusing on the low-tier comment and defending and not on "some great BBQ"

However you BBQ is A-OK if you like what you're making.

Harry Soo won many championships cooking on a Weber smoker. $399 each. You couldn’t touch him.

Harry Soo agrees that it's a low tier, entry-level smoker capable of producing good BBQ in the right hands.

And he uses the WSM more than he uses the WK. Are you using the WSM and calling it a Kettle?

The pen is about the same as a hoodrat car date, I can probably swing it. Thanks, gentlemen. I’ll grab one from Amazon.

indeed. having owned many weber grills they are a good quality product at a good price point. if you can't grill/smoke with a weber you should stop trying.

I already told you I have a kettle Master Touch, not a WSM. They’re just pure smokers. I wanted the versatility of a two zone fire. I have the Hot N Sear, Grilling grates and the Vortex for wings. And a Pitt Boss 850. I can put out quality Q just like you.(according to you) I wouldn’t want a stick burner. That’s just me. I’ve been to Texas many times. Franklins, County Line BBQ etc. it’s all good. The most important thing is starting out with a quality cut of meat. Just don’t fuck it up.

A solid quality upper low-tier smoker and a solid quality mid-tier smoker.

However, the WSM is not just a smoker. It has similar versatility to a kamado as long as it's not cold out.

Whatever. WSM’s were designed as smokers. Can you get a two zone fire from them? Where there’s a will there’s a way I guess. Just like an Egg. Meh. I was interested in a Kamodo Joe at one time. A 24”. It had a two zone fire accessory, slow roller and many other things. But I said fuck it. I have a good combo that fits my techniques. I haven’t had a complaint yet. I might get a Pitt Boss ceramic griddle. I’m on the fence about it.

2 zone is very possible in a WSM and a kamado. There's firebox options like the SnS. Distance and deflector options with the Woos or similar spiders and half stone setups.

Glad you're not having any complaints. Again, nothing to get defensive over if you're enjoying what you're doing and like food and flavor.

I’m not defensive, I’m just telling the truth. As usual.

I can’t get my cast griddle to stop rusting and pretty much stopped using it. Even after taking it to work and soda blasting every trace of rust then immediately coating it with vegetable oil, it still rusts. That thing wasn’t cheap either, yet it rusts so fast it’s unusable without a shit ton of effort I’m rarely willing to make.

How many seasoning cycles are you running? Is the rust always on the same spots?
